Australia’s oldest lighthouse stands in Sydney.

Governor Macquarie ordered it built in 1816, designed by Francis Greenway, a convict architect serving time for forgery.
The foundations crumbled and it was rebuilt in the 1880s, this time to closely resemble Greenway’s original design.

It’s been the longest continuously operating lighthouse site in Australia since 1794, and it’s still fully operational today.
