Back in 1908, the Russian Olympic team showed up 12 days late to the London Games

At the time, Russia was still using the Julian calendar, which was 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar used by most of the world (including Britain). So, when Russia planned their arrival based on their own calendar, they ended up showing up 12 days late - missing the start of the Games.

They still participated in some competitions and won some medals.

Fun Fact:
• Russia didn’t switch to the Gregorian calendar until 1918, after the Bolshevik Revolution.

Ive seen this first hand. I lived in China for a while. Im not a tradie but grew up in the bush and know my way around tools. I owned a few hotels in my time and had to fix so many things. Re-installing/installing plumbing, concreting, tiling, re-built interior floors of walls, electrical, so many things that were on blueprints and never done. Even down to basic things like no P traps on vanities, straight pipes, no floor wastes installed so the entire rooms smelled like sewage. Water proofing isnt even a concept there lol. basic basic stuff.
