So wests tigers just announced a promotion to announce the jerseys for 2014 in return for likes/shares on Facebook. Interesting enough they have a NRL 9's jersey in the list…after a bit of research looks like it could be going ahead and its pretty lucrative if you win (half a mil). Article \/

If some of you don't remember we won the last 7's comp back in 2004\. So what do you guys think? I for one love the idea of a pre season comp and loathe that they think the all stars match is an alternative.

Oh and like the facebook thing, I wanna see these jerseys!

I love the idea. The 7s used to be such a good weekend. Fast paced, exciting footy with a large pay packet. Sounds alright to me!

Simona, Koroibete and Nofoaluma will have a field day.

Better than the all stars IMO. All Stars is a good idea but you can tell that only the Indigenous all stars want to win - the rest are just trying not to get injured.

Not entirely sure - going off memory here. But I think you field any nine players (generally backs and speedy guys because that's the nature of the comp). Matches aren't too long I don't think. Much much shorter than a proper game.

I would like to see the All Stars match mix it up a little next year. Indigenous VS New Zealand. People are right when they say the All Stars don't give a hoot. Plus the more NZ play together the better they'll get

Love these knockout comps.
I am a big fan of the local koori knockouts, go the Newcastle Yowies!

Must admit ,I enjoyed watching the the games that were played in Qld on SBS up in my old backyard of Ipswich last season

Funniest thing was Chris Sandow was playing and the amount of blokes trying to take cheap shots at him was hilarious

On most occasions Chris's answer was using the Michael Ennis SOO method of getting in a fight as in being as far as possible from the fight itself

I can't see the clubs taking it seriously unless we offer a big cash prize or maybe giving the winner a 300 k exemption from their salary cap

Wait for the "traditionalists" who might start thinking 9s or 7s will ruin rugby league just like they loathe T20

The last time Rugby League held the World Sevens we won, so does that mean we have been World Champs for the last 10 years?

This is a great preseason event! Involves all teams and so good for fitness of the players!

Be good for us to win the $500,000 too! And we have a real chance with our team.
It could pay for Sheens salary for next year!

All sorts of NRL players pop up in the Koori knock-out. Back a few years pretty much every indigenous player turned out for some town you'd never heard of. Some team from west of Moree would be out there - it'd be a group of nevilles but also someone like Ewan McGrady would be there.

The 9s will be a good idea. Hopefully we might see a lot of international teams turning out. The old 7s used to be group play on the first day and knock-out on day 2.

True.
The Newc. Yowies have some big name players….
Albert Kelly, Timana Tahu, Reece & Travis Robinson.
Few up and comers on there too who may play first grade someday.

Cannot wait for this.
If its marketed well it could become something very big for our game.

Would have loved to see Benji in his prime play in this.

We all know all the teams will take this seriously and field their strongest sides…..

I guess im one of your traditionalists tig-prmz....never been much of a fan of these abbrev tournaments, I'll watch them but prefer proper footy.

As for worrying nines or sevens will ruin 13 - a - side RL........how long has it been since weve seen 7s?

It'll be a decade

We're reigning champs of World Sevens, and will continue to be so until it's restarted if it is. The 9s comp won't influence that IMO.

I definitely reckon we can be strong contenders because of how our team is at the moment. We're not gonna be reliant on forwards anymore and can just pass it wide to Koro and watch him run rings around whoever.

Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA5bwqVN5LM

Although I reckon koro could match this guy, he ran faster 100s but he doesn't seem like he could run a 10.1 anymore i doubt…

Edit: Actually, nah. Carlin would beat koro, but it'd be a contest. Although koro is by far the better rugby union/league player cause of his size and power. Carlin runs around em but work so well only cause its 7s.
