Nrl all star game

Benji Positives - Scored a good try, showing blistering speed to not being rundown by the chasing back.
Benji Negatives - Didn't get involved enough in attack.

Robbie Positives - Looked dangerous out on the field, made a good break to nearly score a try. Plenty of tackles. Looked better then C.Smith.
Robbie Negatives - Dropped the ball to allow the opposition to score the match winning try.

Farah was solid but the team definitely looked better when Smith was playing number 9
Benji was pretty quiet, defended well but not involved enough

Thought that Thurston and Burgess were head and shoulders above anyone else.

They both performed well, i wished benji was more in the game and could have pulled off some magic but im not unhappy. Im just so glad neither of them gained an injury. Happy to not be sweating over how gidley is going to fair come tomorrows scans. eeeek!

I thought the NRL all stars looked the best when both Farah and Smith were on the field. Farah was able to concentrate on the plays around the ruck while Smith was controlling the game further out. Farah was causing havoc with guys running off him.

Benji was really quiet tonight and showed nothing in attack, but they were up on him pretty quick so he didn't have much to work with. I would have liked to see him take charge when Lockyer went off, but Smith seemed to take on that role.

Burgess looked AWESOME! Good pick up by the Bunnies….

Guys just to let you know I was at the match tonight at fulltime Benji had ice on the front of his leg and was limping.. dont know if its anything to worry about.

Thought Benji was fairly quiet tonight but as weststigers said the Indegenous were up on him all night putting pressure, thought he defended quite well and great to see him score that try.
As for Farah I personally thought that once again he failed to perform at a big stage..

Thought that best on feild tonight were Falou, Jennings and Burgess were the stand outs. Also very suprised by how well Blake Fergason played. All up a definate success IMO and will be even bigger next year.

I thought the entire All Stars side was fairly flat in the first half, which was overall very scrappy, things improved in the 2nd half though.

Robbie was more active in the 2nd half, Benji was a little quiet, but it wasn't the most attractive game I've seen, it is the first game of the year though. Might have been better if this was played at the end of the year.

Firstly the NRL All Stars were stupid going for that power play thing after they scored their tries. That is hardly ever going to work. They should always take the conversion. With Benji a few times when he was playing second receiver he was running on to the ball a bit too wide and it didn't leave enough room for the centre and winger outside him. It was a pretty scrappy game but I guess that is expected a bit when you have players that aren't used to playing together on the same team. I hope they have this game again next year though.

the game was a good concept. it gave alot of people their first taste of footy for 2010.
Robbie and Benji made it through. they will both benefit from match fitness.
.
you never know, this concept could last as long as state of origin.

The opposition remembered Benji is no halfback. He had no time to do much. I was relieved when he ran the field for that try, it made up for how frustrating it was that he was put in the 7 jersey. He is a better thinker in the 6.

It was a great game. But I have to say, I was sitting there with the thought of injury to Benji or Robbie in the back of my mind the whole game. If Gidley is out, then that's terrible for Newcastle. Could have easily been us.

We do have the depth this year though, which is great. It probably wouldn't hurt us as much to lose one of the 2\. Well more so Robbie, since his replacement is Fitzy.

Can't they do this post season as a warm up a week prior to the test matches? It just takes the gloss off it with all these guys pulling out because they think they might get hurt.

I thought Farah was good and had players guessing whenever he ran throwing dummies, solid game with some good signs.
Benji on the other hand well what can i say it seems when his team is being dominated he goes missing. Is it just me or does anyone else notice Benji goes into dummy half a lot and just passes, sometimes when they have space out wide, why does he waste himself by going into dummy half?.
He should be calling the ball and setting his outside backs up. He is also terrible at deciding when to run the ball himself and i'm not only talking about this game but in seasons past he runs when he's well covered in d.
I thought he was very ordinary!
I dont understand as a halfback and without Lockyer on the field why he is not involved.

Compare him to Thurston one is a solid consistent player who is in everything and takes controll of the game week in week out and one is a guy who does a few freakish things a year and everyone calls him a superstar. Sorry just calling it how i see it.

I thought Robbie was very good. Benji was quiet. But hey, it was their first game of the season, remember that. In fact the quality of football was pretty impressive considering it was all the players first real hit out in months. The 4 quarters, powerplay, unlimited interchange is kind of fun in an exhibition game like this.. I just hope none of it crosses over to the regular season.

Benji was rubbish…..still scored a try.......

Farah was heaps better....he got held up...Lol..

Stand out...Michael Jennings....

3\. Jennings
4\. Lawrence......for Origin....If NSW selectors dont pick them....... they're morons......Oh wait...

Thought Jennings and Burgess were the best for the All Stars.

For Indigenous - Cory Patterson was putting in 110% the whole time he was on and was everywhere for the first half.

I thought Robbie really ignited the all stars in the 2nd half. When smith went to half they looked real good, but that's when they started to get more ball. Benji was quite, the defence was on him early and gave him no room. I too was just praying for no injuries! It might just be me but whenever I watch benji play for anyone else bar the tigers I think he goes really quite. It could just be because I'm focusing on just the one player, but when he's
playing with the tiges he just seems much more
comphortable.

well i only watched the first half due to the kevin rudd phil gould spewathon… but benji was average to put it nicely ...
why dies politics have to ruin a game of football?

what is the criterior for the indigs? i am reading coreys old mans book and im sure he is full bred aussie and his mom is english. but yeah i thought he was best on field in the first half…

Benji was alright, without being spectacular, same with Farah.

Best players on the field were Thurston, Jennings and Soward in my opinion. Although Jenko and Sowie made a few errors, I think they are both in for big years again.

Great game though, hope they do it every year, made all the doubters look stupid.
