Nrl all star game

The comment you make Simonthetiger re Benji not playing as well in rep matches as he does at the Tigers, I think it's the Sheens effect, and of course in this case having the 7 on his back

No wonder we were interested in Burgess what a talent this guy is Souths really have a good player, wish we could have signed him but there was no way we could pay the release money.

I think all the criticism on marshall is harsh.
He was trialled as a halfback last year and it failed.
Bennet should know that and he should have made lockyer control the match and feed the ball to marshall at the right times. IMO that didnt happen once. whenever Marshall was given the ball it was never at the right time and he always had to pass or get smashed but the rushing defence.
As for farah I thought he played quite well. When the all stars were struggling he put his hand up to start controlling the match and it showed.

Thought Jennings and Burgess were the best for the All Stars.

For Indigenous - Cory Patterson was putting in 110% the whole time he was on and was everywhere for the first half.

what is the criterior for the indigs? i am reading coreys old mans book and im sure he is full bred aussie and his mom is english. but yeah i thought he was best on field in the first half…

who knows what the criteria is … i mean, ben jones doesnt look all indigenous.

Lol…Benji was playing second reciever 5'8th all night.....but your right I blame Bennett for making him wear No. 7

For the record I am not criticising Marshall. He just wasn't played where he plays best.

I really enjoyed watching the game because I have missed it so much, but it was hardly a good game if you know what I mean, but it was a game at least. Can't wait for season start to see some entertaining footy.

Benji was quiet overall. Still shirt grabs in defence and was quiet in attack apart from his runaway try. Saw him at first receiver a bit throughout the match and he looked content to catch and pass. At least he got through ok though. I figure it wil take him a few matches to get his timing and confidence up.

Robbie looked good for the most part. Definitely looked sharp in attack and was unlucky not to score. Worked well in the middle in defence too.

Jennings looked the most dangerous though, give the guy half a gap and he'll hurt you. Burgess was strong, Souths have the best pack in the comp this year IMO.

I thought Robbie played well. He was unlucky not to score, and unlucky to lose the ball prior to Soward's try, but he looked sharp. It could be coincidence or it could be the bias Farah supporter in me but I do think the team played better when Robbie was at dummy-half.

All things considered, it was a good game and a worthy cause. The Ind team played like they wanted it and I do think the fact the NRL All Stars were 'all stars' was a bit of a problem, with plenty of blokes trying to do it all themselves.

It takes his own team half a season to learn to read Benji in attack. Dropping him into an All-Stars type setup with a weeks training together is just not gong to work for him.

I am glad the NRL All Stars didn't score after that 'penalty' on the fulltime buzzer otherwise we would be saying sorry for 'the stolen game'.

What I was trying to say was Lockyer didn't control the match and give Benji the space and room he needs to produce his best football.

well i only watched the first half due to the kevin rudd phil gould spewathon… but benji was average to put it nicely ...
why dies politics have to ruin a game of football?

I know man that was cringe worthy - Rudd is so ingenuion I'd really love to have a go at him lol

Evidently they have Aboriginal Ancestry or otherwise they would not be eligible and it was a fantastic game and great to see the youngsters getting a run I was proud of Blake Fergo who has done so well (local boy YAY)

I have to say I was very disappointed in the whole feel and attiude of this match. It should in my opinion with the season looming and injuries a big problem and exebition game as they do inthe States with Baseball and NBA.

What is the point in going hell for leather for a meaningless match which now could see several players missing the season. In the Baseball they have the Home Run Derby and then the game and basically treat the players and fans to something different. The Basketball i don;t follow but i understand they do a similar thing. So why not have a a kicking comp or skills comp as fun and then fisnish with a game that is played for a show of skill and not a allin bash up.

Just glad Robbie and Benji have come out unscathed but would be pisse doff to be a Broncos or Newcastle fan right now.

Rugby league is all about going hell for leather and IMO people would stop watching if it was just a glorified exhibition. All your arguments above could just as equally apply SOO.

The injuries thing is just a part of the game. You can't wrap the players in cotton wool, no matter where in the season we stand. Consider how many players withdrew from the match already due to outstanding / preseason injuries.

Getting injured in a preseason trial is not the same imo. They are training for the upcoming season, learning plays and working out combinations etc and has a benefit in the long term. The All Stars game is just that a glorified exhibition regardless of how you sell it. As for SOO of origin i'm not a huge fan of this during the season to be honest as it has an impact on the season that again imo benfits some clubs and not others.

I want the Tigers to do well and win. At the end of the day or seaosn who wins SOO is well, meh! I would have QLD win every year if it means Tigers winning the comp, IMO.

Just to add. I would rather the NRL or whatever its going to be called after the new commission is an AFL pre-season cup. This would dispence with these trial games and at least if players get injured they are doin git for their club.

I disagree bro

Ours is a lot more physical game that AFL

While I am starved for Footy by mid Oct I am not willing to risk the few stars we have and those speculative players (Returning from injury) we sign in a pre season comp.

I would like a Sevens tournamanet though….

Benji was rubbish…..still scored a try.......

Farah was heaps better....he got held up...Lol..

Stand out...Michael Jennings....

3\. Jennings
4\. Lawrence......for Origin....If NSW selectors dont pick them....... they're morons......Oh wait...

Add Blake Ferguson to that backline.. or is he a kiwi? He's certainly got the goods either way.
