NRL cash might put Wests Tigers' Leichhardt affection to the test

Thatd be a great look if canberra or the Cowboys got a home semi…no one there.
Its week I of the semis and always a build up to the GF
20k is usually the norm....another 30 isnt gunna magically appear on wk I :unamused:

Think!

Sure I will think…..North Queensland have held one home semi since their inception. The crowd was 25,000 and this was before the ground was upgraded for the 2003 rugby World cup. Admittedly Canberra has only managed 18,000 for its home semis, but its ground can hold up to 30,000.

These romantic ideas of Sunday afternoons with a picnic rug on a hill watching a suburban game of football are finished as they don't match the costs of the game. The AFL got rid of these ideas in the 90's and they are killing the football landscape of Australia. The first week of the AFL's finals don't satisfy themselves with a "norm" of 20,000, why should the NRL? The logic does not add up.

Dairy Farmers holds 26k
Canberra 25k
If you need to resort to lying to prove a point…well...........
Your idea is garbage, needs work....ie more think

How come it's perfectly fine for clubs like Dragons, Manly, Penrith, Canberra, Titans, Sharks etc etc to host home finals as far as I know none of them hold over 30k. So what's the issue with us holding our final at LO is we get one that is. Sorry if someone has posted this before.

Its not an issue, its just Garys idea that he didnt think through.
The club will put the sponsors and money first though as usual over the team , it'll be at the SFS

Why do we need the cash? For Balmain supporters this our 2nd finals appearance in 20 years and Wests supporters longer. We have how many home grounds now? If we had only one home ground we play in more finals over the last 20 years. Screw the NRL how nuch have we sacrificed over the years to develop and promote the game? We had to merge in the first place for the benefit of the game. We lost our half back for the benefit of the game and a new club. We take home games to NZ for the benefit of the game and now let's get the good old tiges to give up a home game for THE GOOD OF THE GAME. I say Bullshit and any tiger that cares about the gate is not a tiger. For once can we just think about what is good for our team and screw everyone else the NRL and the SFS.

Couldn't have said it better myself. A win is the most important factor here, so whats best for the Tigers to get them that win is the only question we need asked here. Its not about money, its about getting the job done and if that means we the fans might miss out but we get to see the win on TV, so be it.

Go the Tigers.

Western Suburbs made the finals 3 times in the 90's.

What's wrong with Campbelltown?? It would fill ,up for a semi …...

Yes it would. Thousands of Wests Tigers supporters would miss out on a ticket though. It has the same problem as Leichhardt. The capacity is too small for a finals game.

not everyone would get visas in time

SFS for me

Would certainly be tempted to drag Easts to Leichhardt. SFS would be the logical decision against any other side all up however would not be overly happy if we were to give up home advantage to Easts.

When do they need to make the final decision by? Tickets go on sale this Monday so surely they need to make the call in the next day or two.

If these guys take this game to the SFS against Easts has there in any sport ever been a dumber decision? I just feel really dumb supporting this team I mean they have been my whole life since Balmain now 20 years 2nd time in and we give it up to the roosters what is the point in even having a team in the NRL

Another big fan i see. What do you mean IF we are playing at the SFS and if you feel that dumb supporting the Tigers, mate come to the game on Saturday wearing your Roosters shirt.

The quicker we let go of "the good old days" the better. We are Wests Tigers not Balmain nor Magpies and football is a different game than it was back in 89.

Yes I would love the game at the Rectangle but that is out weighed by my desire to actually be able to see whats going on the pitch rather than having to watch the replay on the big screen as eveyone stands up and i can't see shit.

If the team is good enough it's good enough and the fact that we have lost to the roosters at CT and the SFS really makes no difference.

You may feel dumb and you know what, you sound dumb..

Melbourne sides playing all their games at Etihad and the MGC has in turn made the clubs richer.
Crowds are huge and tribalism is rife

Clubs are richer and the code is richer. AFL got 41,000 on sunday to a home semi in Sydney. Penrith and Kogarah wont get this number combined for home semi's in a supposed league mad city. Us, the dogs, roosters and souths are the only teams that get it and will probably be the only ones that survive long term.

It's up to the fans to turn up in numbers and make the atmosphere as intimidating as if the game were at Leichhardt.
