I was wondering.
Has there ever been a send off for a hip drop before this?

Most hip drops are accidental and the chance of injury pure luck.

If Crossland is sent off that should be the outcome for all hip drops as they all have the possibility of a bad injury.

API was penalised - sin binned - suspended (mainly because of the Newcastle/canberra ? player writhing in pain - before playing on)

Radley was penalised only for the same thing

There is no consistency and must be penalty and sin bin (on report)

The bloke Api did it to had to have surgery on both ankles.
It’s a send off worthy penalty for mine

The bad ones seem to happen near the try line when it's one on one and the defender is trying to stop them from getting in a scoring position.

I thought the same when they had to get the yellow trainer to help hold the leg.
2 people holding the leg/ankle as they drive off...that looks like it is a mess

What happens in a tackle is a lottery most of the time because you can’t control the impact other players coming into the impact zone will make. If that makes sense!!. Crossland might have been making a perfectly legitimate tackle and another defender has changed Cleary’s position. Anyway it was not intentional, there was no malice and careless at very very worst. Not a send off but you can’t blame Sutton or the bunker because they are just using the NRL’s interpretation of the rules.

If it was Joe Blogg instead of Cleary would Crossland been sent off??
