This is total bullcrap…
Why are we under the spotlight?

The NRL should be looking at the dirty tactics obviously being used to slow Benji down.
He is copping high shots left, right and centre.
Again had a black eye against the panthers.
Its not good enough, I think the other clubs are thinking with these new rules if they knock Benji out we'll have to do without him.

Rub those out of the game for at least a fortnight for employing tactics to concuss players, penalise the poor discipline and avoid the whole situation!

Bring back DALLAS Donnelly to protect Benji and dish out some Tiger Punishment!!!

RIP Rugby League…. You will be banished to another pansies sport like AFL & Union. Soon they wont be checking the studs before games, but each player will need to have thier handbags checked before they run out.

Who let Doctors into Rugby League? They all used to play Rugby Union when I was playing!!!

I thought there had to be an NRL doctor to adjudicate on concussion protocol at the ground?

Guess not

one of the most stupid things i have ever heard.

its okay to illegally make contact with the head, the ref and offending player get off scot free, but they want to charge the club?

get outta here!!

i see a lot of people poke fun at the so called direction rugby league is heading towards rugby union comparisons and if the shoulder charge should be rubbed out, we only have to look to the US NFL with the litigation thats brewing there to know that down the track we could face similar issues if people arent careful.

It's a joke that we can potentially be punished when the opposition got away free. It's a joke that the refs have missed repeated high shots in our games, and I have no doubt if we knocked soward in the head we would have been penalised and a heftier suspension. Head knocks however do need to be investigated and concussed players rested, otherwise we will have the same scenario as the NFL where retired players are having early onset dementia at a rate much higher than the normal population. Hits to the head are serious and there should be mandatory time off if there is concussion, the opposition player in the same position should also have to sit out the rest as well to punish them as well as the penalty etc. That will stop teams deliberately concussing a player to make him come off.

We stamped out the spear tackle a lot, especially since McCracken had his career ended, and more needs to be done to prevent high shots. Reducing these won't reduce the toughness of the game, it will just improve player safety and reduce illegal play.

it simple.
if a player is penalised for a high shot, and the person he injured and leaves the field. then the offending person leaves the field as well and his team plays with 12 for remainder of game.

the offending player sits out matches until the person he injured returns to the game.

the offending player must pay all medical expenses incurred.

watch how quickly it stops.

such common sense such as this isn't tolerated at nrl head quarters

Sounds like an idea worth a go

Ok, so what happens when Benji goes to tackle Joe Nobody from the eels next week and it slips up and brushes him on the chin. Joe stays down and draws a penalty and parra decides they can do without Joe if it means we play with 12 for the rest of the match, especially without Benji???

Unfortunately the punishment cannot be related to any injury sustained, because some players can withstand head shots better than others. The punishment should be based on the crime, not the end result.

Which player is going to think that's a good idea to take a dive? I mean really.

Each player is not only wanting to play the game they love, but play in the NRL and earn some money. The only way to do that is to be on the field, no one is going to want to take a dive and not play just to give the team a win.

Maybe this is a better example then. 18 all with 20 to go and Benji tackles Mitchell Allgood and it slips up and Benji is penalised. Parra sub Allgood off as a part of their normal rotation and he would not normally return. Who decides whether or not he is injured or being subbed?

When you say which player is going to think it is a good idea to take a dive, who would have thought 10 years ago that players would stay down after a tackle bumps them on the chin, so that the video ref can review it and give a penalty???

Milking a penalty is one thing, walking off the field pretending you have a head knock so the opposition loses a player and is down to 12, is something else. Can't see anyone willingly giving up their game time just to do that.
