NRL/ISP Trials V NZ Warriors LIVE GAME THREAD*

Not sure it’s being a chicken little to be disappointed in a trial performance and wonder what the portents for the season are. By the way when was the last time you heard a coach say he was really unhappy with a trial game and is worried for the season ahead. For me, apart from Brooks there was not a lot to like from that game.

Perhaps it's instead fair to say that what the coach takes out of a game could be very different to what the fans take out of the same trial.

Fans want to see combinations, flow, energy and points. Coach of course does too, but he will want other specific things that we aren't aware of, specific targets set for players and combinations regardless of the score.

My First post, I know it was only a trial, but if any club needed more than 1 trial it was us. Adapting to a new coach, the training paddock does not simulate the real thing, and it showed. Our forwards were dominated, and our ruck speed was so slow. The good was Brooks, his defense has improved out of sight, very impressive, Matterson needs the big boys to roll forward, he will be a great buy, Gardner, Twal and Mickaele will have a great year, Jennings will improve and be a handful. The bad, I have never seen Eisenthuith bend the line and always gets dominated, Packer needs to lift his game, Robbie needs a pack rolling forward and the halves need to be settled, sorry for Corey's fans, but to small and big athletic winges will dominate him in every department. Liddle needs to start sooner than later, this young man has the goods, otherwise we will lose him.

Was not surprised with the result we were flogged by the warriors in 2018 26-4

We did look like we were holding back and just working on a few combinations across the park.

With the amount of defence they had to do it would of been a good hitout. I would of been worried if we had all of the ball in our only trial.

We play the Warriors round 2 they showed their structures and executed well. We decided not to and just blow the cobwebs out. Wouldn’t read anything into this game if anything gives us an advantage for round 2.

I will withhold judgment until round 3\. If we have not won 2 games (and looked much better against the warriors) a long season it will be

I just got a chance to watch it, I was expecting something horrendous going by this forum. Just blowing out the cobwebs, theres no doubt Madge didn't ask much of them before the game.

Blake Ashford still going around, that was the highlight for me. Lol

Actually if he plays back row he wouldn't be the dumbest choice going round for Fantasy League in the centres as a cheapie

Nice first post Blocker.

I agree with most of it.

Bill maarbani is light years ahead IMO. I'm not being slack either - Ive watched a lot of O'Toole in ISP last year.

Anyone know how/if K.Bradley & S.Mcintyre featured on the weekend?

Rowdy don't look like Rowdy in this ![IMG_20190305_122132|281x500](upload://5CNLOYXZC2J1zGGepvphh8gAiuq.jpeg)

Maabini caught the ball once out of 5\. Otoole busted his guts all game.
McIntyre got injured in the captains run
Bradley played in 20s.
No development players traveled to NZ

I like Harry, he reminds me of a toy soldier. But I think Bill has more size/potential from what I saw from him in lower grades & running around with Lebanon. Thanks for the news regarding the development boys.
