What was garlic mayo doing when he was at dummy half on the last then ran in front of Reynolds who ended up kicking the ball into him?

It was laughable, but the bigger question is why after fifteen odd seasons, the regular dummy half has still not learnt that he should not run on the fourth tackle.

Agree. Liddle has to be ready to take the job by mid season. The biggest issue I have is Marshall and Reynolds look ordinary. Brooks seems again the only attaching option.

If Brooks wasnt on the field we would have had no attack at all.As far as 6 is concerned it really is a lottery neither played well hopefully one of them finds form quickly

Wow i forgot how bad a jydge of footy so many on here are. The easiest ones are thos who say Packer was rubbish. I can strike them from the football knowledge list.

For some of them it was premeditated and unless Packer was best on field, was going to cop it anyway.

Wouldn't read too much into it. We were blown off the park against the Sharks in a trial at Campbelltown last year if I remember correctly.

Yeah, Benji is on old legs and Josh just looked wrong when he attempted ball play to put McQueen through the line, with the loss of possession always looking likely. They both require all the time they can get, so they need immediate service as well.

Trial form is a poor guide to how a club goes in the season however i would certainly have liked to have seen a lot more enthusiasm and more cohesion particularly in defence

I’m not really concerned as it was obvious Madge was playing a vanilla game plan not giving away any attacking shape or defensive structures. We looked fit and strong which is a big positive.

I say bring fonua in for nofa. He brought a bit more energy and is hard to handle.

I think the ship has long sailed on this topic, the onus and responsibility lies with the players. This club has gone through so many coaches, with little gain and same old, same old results. The buck stops here with madge.

Yes that is what I remembered too.. let’s hope we deliver the same response on the first 5 rounds

Only saw the 2nd half

Im a little more concerned.

I think the team lacked enthusiastic in defence and were impotent in attack.

Reynolds looked very jitery and lacked patience

One point I'll make is that Warriors continue to be a very big side and with unlimited interchange today it wasn't a genuine example of how they will have to play all year.

Also with players chopping and changing positions, it's all just bits and pieces, 10 or 15 minute sessions. I don't think too hard about the result.

Primary concern for me, as others have noted, is Marters-Nofo RHS defence. I know Warriors scored 2 down the LH wing too, but the RH ones were weak tries, even if the first one was a forward pass.

Don't know if it's just my imagination, but Brooks looked a class above almost every player out there. Not that he dominated the game or did magic things, but one of the first times I've really seen that "playing the game at his own pace" from Brooks.

Otherwise I thought the Warriors were very good - disciplined, eager, good line speed. V good for a trial. Also Mbye quite quiet.

Reynolds - boy he was super disjointed. He needs to figure that out ASAP, because he made Benji look like Thurston.

I agree with your post .. did not see or hear any part of the game . Reynolds will come good if he stays injury free needs game time, Packer is not a starting prop off the bench , Nofo should be in ISP and I think he will be. It was interesting reading the ISP comments this is more an indication of how the boys have been training ! It seems no injuries from the game that is a positive in itself, Madge just wanted a hit out without giving to much away and get away injury free imo . Nothing can be taken seriously from a trial as all coaches treat them differently… look at ISP if you want an indication of how the team will perform 1st round !

Yep. I'm sure the week spent in NZ would've been one last preseason slog for the boys by Madge. Looking forward to round one!

It was a fairly lacklustre display - its been said already but the glaring concerns were a disjointed Reynolds but for me, more so how much bigger the NZ side seemed to be, rolling through our middle easily at times.

Can you guys see Mikaele in the 17 this year?

On a positive note….there is plenty of upside on that performance. Front row rotation needs a rethink, real needs to start. Marshall and Farah need to be looked at as temporary fixes until Liddell and Reynolds find their feet. Criticism of noffa is a bit harsh....

The biggest worry is the lack of sting in defence.

I have only watched the first half so far. I dont think it was as bad as what has been portrayed (although I did watch it after reading on here, so my expectations were pretty low going in).

I think it was obvious we looked better as soon as the 2 young front rowers came on. They just did what front rowers should do, run straight, hard and often. I really struggle to understand why the young ones come on and have so many more runs then the senior guys. We have to split the older guys IMO. So Twal and Mats start, with Mikeale and Packer off the bench.

I'm not sure I can even watch us if Benji stays in the team.

Eiso was busy and I think he's a good player, however we need more leg speed from him. He probably starts the year in ISP but will feature alot throughout the year putting pressure on Taylor and Packer.

Garner is very good.

Jennings will be an asset.

Reynolds has to be given the 6 (although i haven't seen 2nd half yet). If that doesn't work out we need to look at Matterson, Gamble and Momo for the role, not Benji.

Farah was ok and starts the year only until Liddle shows he can handle 80\. I want speed. He went to Benji way too much in the first 20\. They both cant be in the team.

Oh and on Nofo, sometimes it's hard for us armchair experts to work out how the overlap if created, however, I do believe the Warriors 3rd try was Benji's fault. He needed to slide leaving the man he came in on to Matterson. That would have pushed everyone out a man and situation would have been covered. Once benji turned in, the outside men had no hope. If Nofo stays out the centre scores and we all say "why didnt he come in?" All I'm saying is, whenever a try is scored down our edges, the decisions made by everyone from the backrower out need to be looked at before judgement is made on the winger. Sometimes its Nofa, sometimes it's not. It's more often Benji who makes that bad decision if you ask me.
