NRL Off Season Scandals

I have no idea if he is guilty or not, but if he is I have no sympathy for him, but at this stage I guess you have to give him the benefit of the doubt and let the legal system sort it out.

My main concern at the moment is that with his fairly well publicized mental health issues, I hope that someone is watching out for him because with the severity of the charges it could very well be enough to push him over the edge.

I caught he's latest podcast which was on a mental health dedicated podcast. Spoke somewhat openly on his mental health issues said was doing drugs said had million in bank account and at that time got it down to a negative balance. Said lost it all feels guilty that he lost everything and has a kid.

Still in shock wanting answers.

Seriously who cares if it pushes him over the edge? If he is guilty he is the scummiest of the scum.

That is just really sad, from so many angles.

Hard to make any sense of ay.

Money. He sounded quite desperate for it when he spoke about his mental health the other week.

Not just that but it was the way he spoke publicly about his previous issues and the love he clearly has for his baby girl. If you hear that guy speak and then read that he is alleged to have done this, you feel cheated.

Is child abuse supposed to be a less graphic term for child porn?

Yeah it’s the preferred law enforcement terminology. Porn may be assumed to generally infer a legal consenting activity. Abuse accurately describes what it is.

Ok. I was 99% sure that was the case, but was leaving the door open to the possibility it was a lesser charge. Messed up. Even if he’s proven innocent, allegations like that stick.

His lawyer is saying that there was no material, and another newspaper indicates it was more a chat group. Still disgusting and illegal obviously.

I hope he truly is innocent.
Before this I felt bad for him... Thought he seemed like a good fella
If truly guilty he deserves
all he gets. There's no justifying this, prison justice is too good for rock spiders...
But I can see scenarios where he could be a victim too.... Phone unlocked and someone searching for and sharing this material.... Group chats as mentioned above...
We all hung Brett Stewart out to dry... We know how that ended.

Spot on.
All alleged at the moment.
If guilty then fry him but in our society we tend to go off too early

Have you considered reversing the order of those two sentences? Or, are you suggesting a social media pile-on that may influence someone to self-harm (or worse) is ok before guilt or innocence is determined?

I share the concern of @hank37w.

I'll rephrase. If he is guilty I don't care if it pushes him over the edge, and I hope it does.

The likelihood of guilt in a case like this is much higher than the kinds of cases we often talk about with footy players.

With 'NRL scandals' we're generally looking at he said / she said cases where accusations can easily be made for spurious, vindictive, or financial reasons (e.g. against Josh Reynolds).

But a case like this involving Finch would have involved a significant degree of cold hard forensic investigation prior to the arrest. You don't often hear about people getting off these kinds of charges.

At the end of the day, people are entitled to have problems like drug abuse ,gambling etc. However, if there's any truth to the story, he and the other 9 or so ferrils being charged can go to hell. There's no excuse for child abuse (whether first hand, chat groups or accessing material) and how he handles the repercussions of his actions is on him. How about the poor kids at the receiving end of these grubs. They're the ones with the life sentence.

Child abuse is considered lowest of the low. If he was guilty and he did top himself, there would be few sympathisers

I think he is still on the gear after seeing the podcast on Bloke in the bar.

They also released a statement pretty much saying we have nothing to do with him and what he has done.

You need to take my whole post in context rather than just cherry pick the parts that suit you.

If he is guilty then I agree that he is scum, but he is entitled to his time in court which will hopefully determine whether he is guilty or innocent.

What would you give to go back to the good old days of uber drivers getting beaten, drug fuelled dog humping and urinating in your mouth.

The offseason scandal thread has taken a dark , dark turn.
