Worst bloke we've had running the game in forever.
V'landys owned two video stores back in the 90's. I owned a video store in the same group called Home Pics Video. We had group meetings every month.
He was a tosspot back then and he hasn't changed
I worked with him recently. I was running late for an appointment at his house on the day the Sam Burgess drug allegations his the media. I ended up being 20-30 minutes late and he was really cool. Was completely calm and collected and talked with me for over an hour, as if I was the only thing he had to worry about that day. Then he said "if you will excuse me, I need to go to war//"
I really liked him as a bloke. Zero pretense. A very down to earth bloke.
Sorry mate but any person who uses the metaphor of going to war to inflate their own sense of self-importance sickens me to be honest. A person in a plush boardroom isn't some bloke fighting for his life in a jungle or a desert.
Really hate it when people trot out that line
Lighten up Francis. It was a throwaway line meaning he had a hard day ahead of him. I dont think he was conflating the two. He is one the least self important people I have met. That was the point of me mentioning that it was on the day of the Burgess news. It was the opposite of self importance. You would not have known he had a care in the world and was happy to chat about my work for a long time, didnt talk about himself or his position once. Just a throwaway line at the end to say "funs over back to work".
