His team mates race through because they believe it is a genuine try scoring opp. Other teams are content just to tackle and start the set near the line. It is a mind set.

Poor analogy, youth batsman has to switch from batting against pace to facing a leg spinner. I always told my sons you need to hit the switch to get your footwork going to get to the pitch of the ball to score runs. Many kids who were strong against pace struggled against spin bowling because they weren't prepared to use footwork to get to the pitch of the ball. Therefore the spinner would dictate terms and often maiden overs would follow. There should never be maidens against spinners. This is all about mindset and being positive.
