The NRL is reaping what they sow. For years bigger clubs have taken talent somehow under the same salary cap. They made changes to the rules which have shown up the talent differential. No point watching until finals to be honest. Without a draft bad teams will stay bad for a long time.

The cowboys are bad the Sharks are not that great but there is serious dramas. When the TV money falls and players have to take massive haircuts it will be the biggest self inflicted self destruction of a league.

Greed always creates dramas.

So very true. The game’s value will be worth very little if the hopeless imbalance continues. Of course it will continue if the NRL doesn’t take urgent steps. The two hottest juniors in the last two years are now both with the Chooks, and why would they go anywhere else.

Teams at the bottom will stay there for a very very long time because there salary cap buys them 40% less than the good sides. There are a million other reasons, but the game is in big trouble

I agree and disagree. NRL does need to do something but we have had different eras as well. Now I'm only 26 but as far as I understand:
- we had the era of tribalism pre 2000s where you played with your junior club most of the time (not all, im sure there are some examples against this as well). Most players had a second job.
- then came the era of money IMO, guys like Hayne, SBW, DCE etc
- and now it is the era of excellence/professionalism, where players are happy to take a pay cut to learn their trade better, win games and be part of premiership winning teams hence they go to teams like roosters/storm/rabbitohs etc

I honestly believe a draft system needs to come into affect. I'm not going to go into conspiracy theories about salary sombrero and all but I don't think a salary cap is cutting it anymore. We need to do other things to ensure there is a turnover of top teams.
