NRL Simply the Best 2020..

I’m just over everything in life being made into a statement. It’s an advertisement for the game of rugby league. Just leave it for god sake... I’m over all this indigenous and same sex relationship crap being shoved in my face. I don’t care wether your proud of your heritage or proud of being gay or whatever... I come here to watch league. Full stop. Just over it. Blow the freaking whistle already.

Couldn't have said it any better

Good ad. Everyone thinking they’re trying to politicise it are wrong - they’re merely showing the game can be for everyone. Stop being offended by minor things and enjoy the footy - it’s only an ad after all.

I reckon it's great that they had some gay symbolism in there. I love league and I think my gay friends should as well. It's a great game.

"The NRL's revived Tina Turner ad is a bland, politically correct gesture from an organisation losing touch with the game’s fans. It's an exercise in box-ticking that totally misses the point.

Paul Kent goes WHACK http://bit.ly/2Ic7yMD

Paul Kent is correct on this. They are totally out of touch and this won’t stop the outflow of fans.

Why oh why do they have to sexualise a professional sport commercial of all things is beyond me ...I think it would be more profound if it was 2 guys in masculine sport like this...Other then the token PC thing, not bad.

You mean how they sexualised the original ad , with dudes wearing body oil and some really huge homoerotic Themes . Come on bro !

Yeah its a pity my disabled trans black lesbian Muslim friend cant enjoy it, she wasnt represented in the ad at all. When will the NRL become inclusive?

I don't get the outrage. The problem is society still makes this stuff an issue when there is no need for it. The outrage on this thread is a classic example. Who cares ? I don't see the need for the drama but carry on if you want too.

Its because people are sick to death of identity politics, why make a comment at all that your gay friends should enjoy league, is that all that defines them? Shouldn't the default be that you wish all your friends enjoy league? Ive never thought "I hope my straight friends like something etc". Why the need to label and put someone in a box? Its ridiculous. Ive never ever thought as my mates as gay or straight, it doesnt even enter a thought process, theyre just a mate. Thats why the outrage.

The internet is the new soapbox.

What I’ve learnt is that anybody with an opinion now has a voice that reaches further than ever before and if you spread your words far enough your going to find people who agree or disagree with your opinion.

That’s when the proverbial hits the fan.

The add is a disgrace, all it does is looks after the aboriginals and the lesbians, it does nothing to promote the NRL, it is just a PC add

I agree, but the problem is not everybody agrees with every opinion which is cool. The problem imo is when people tell each they are wrong or that one opinion is less valid than another’s.

No it’s not. There is such a thing as bad publicity and this is an example. It puts people off. I would like to know who the NRL thinks the target audience for this add is? Will they become NRL fans and buy merchandise, tickets or watch on TV/Foxtel? Somehow I think they have missed the mark.

Who will it put off? Not league fans, no matter how much they moan.

A divisive promotion and garbage at that ! Do we all get a gay and aboriginal flag on entry to all games this season . A sad advertising adventure produced by out of touch clowns . The 95 percent of the targeted audience has been treated with contempt !

Did not think we needed LM standing, looking out with an aboriginal flag draped over him.

This is a football ad, not a political statement - one day they will get it right.

Cam as a kid ....didn't need it.

It’s his flag representing his people. Bet you wouldn’t have an issue if Liddle was there draped in the Australian flag.

Wouldn't have a problem if it was an ad for the Indigenous game... but it's not.
Didn't notice Alex Twal with the Lebanese flag did you... or all the Polys with their flags?

No I didn’t, but I wouldn’t have minded if they did.

Don’t bother arguing with the boomers. They’re upset over a flag the poor things. Apparently people aren’t allowed to be proud of their culture.

I don't think it's a "boomer" thing. The fact it has people arguing about these issues shows that it's too political in the first place.

In fairness, I can't see the relevance of someones sexual preference or culture to the talent they have in the game. Can't we watch the spectacle rather than have politics shoved down our throat all the time...I just think people want a place they can go to get away from all the different opinions and just be brought together by something they have in common - the great game of Rugby League.

I'm not having a shot at you...it's an overall observation. I've just quoted your post for relevance.

The game started because of politics, of course it is going to continue to be a progressive game! The ad shows this!

It’s definitely a boomer thing. How is showing Latrell mitchell (an NRL player) holding an indigenous flag (a massive part of the NRL) or the two NRL PLAYERS kissing political at all. These were big moments from last years game and will be a big part of this years game, the NRL promoting the fact that EVERYONE can enjoy the game is far from a ‘political point’.

People shouldn’t be so upset over an advertisement. End of the day everything in it was relevant to the NRL. Funny how the generation that seem to think everyone else are sensitive and snowflakes can’t even handle a flag in an ad.

I guess we just never had it rammed down our throats at school, so we aren't as brainwashed by it all.

If you think kissing a woman on TV is a "big moment" in rugby league, then you should go and watch a few more games. Honestly, this would be at the bottom of the pile of great things in Rugby League.

It was a big moment last year and it pushes the fact that EVERYONE can play footy which is what we all want right?

Don’t think anyone’s brainwashed at all. Trust me I’m against forcing political correctness into everything just for the sake of it but everything in the ad was relevant to the NRL

Everyone can play, except Israel Falou and Todd Carney
