NRL Tri-Series

They should really bring this concept back. NSW v QLD v NZ in a tri-series like they had in Super League. It's a damn shame that players like Benji can't play Origin.

I know what your saying but why change origin when its already such a success..
The kiwis get to play some sort of tournament at the end of nealy every year plus a mid season test match.
Not a fan of the idea..

I'd love to see the Kiwis pull out a SOO "trial" match of their own of some sort though. Either Possibles v Probables (during season before Anzac)? NZ NRL Stars v NZ SL Stars (end of season before Four Nations start)?

Silly having Australia A 1 & 2 up against a Kiwi national side.

When the independant commission is formally setup it does away with the ARL, QRL, NSWRL sanctions

If you want to include other nations players why not just bite the bullet and have players once they sign an NRL contract list the nominated state (franchise whatever you want to call it) and they then become eligable that way your only dealing with NRL contracted players and any player listed in the NRL is eligable to play and it would then truly be the best v the best so to speak.

I rekon it could work as a seperate series to origin. So u would have ur normal origin series and then this at some other stage

I am all for this! I wish it would happen… past that instead of "New Zealand", they have a Barbarians side made up of those not BORN in either NSW or QLD... I'm sick of New South Welshman playing for Queensland... it's a joke!

I like Barbarians actually that's a wicked idea.

The only problem is usually non Aussies or Kiwis get a free pass to choose sides. Like all the Samoans, Tongans etc playing for NZ.

The biggest positive I can see about the tri-series idea is that it would stop New Zealand players jumping ship to play state of origin. They could still play this series which would be very competitive, and also represent their country.

I guess they would have to remove the ANZAC Day test but that wouldn't be a big loss.
