NYC Team Announcement: Finals, Wk. 2

No direction out of dummy half cost us big time. Didn't go towards our strong side when we had the ball. That plus Levido and Farrell being just so far away from any good at all and that was that. How did Farrell end up favoured ahead of Sione Alofi?

Yeah that tends to happen when you're down to your 5th choice hooker…..it is a very young side that will be better for the experience...

well said brother - but don't forget injuries - that didn't benefit our cause

Almost certain if Mitch Moses had been at 1 we win. At 18-8 up we had all the momentum and were way on top.
Poor old Farrell just kept getting worse after each mistake. It can be a lonely place out in the middle of the field when it all seems to go wrong no matter how hard you try.
On a positive note Lodge was outstanding IMO. I hope he can have a big offseason and push hard for a regular first grade spot.

Talking to a dad of a player, the rehab group for the 20's is as big a group as the NRL rehab group…..injuries killed us in all 3 grades

I know, I was referring to that…

That game really was symbolic of the team's season. Unstoppable when they're motivated, awful when they're not. Only thing was we only showed up for 10-15 mins in this match. First 30 mins we were atrocious. whole 2nd half minus the first set was even worse.

Tactically the team was a mess. We repeatedly ignored the side of the field which had scored 2/3 of our points this season in order to attack down a side which has proven largely ineffective. Heleta touched the ball about 4 times all game, mostly from dummy half. Ridiculous, but this did often come down to our 4th and 5th choice hookers repeatedly passing to the right from dummy half. Maybe they can only pass in one direction?

Was probably Funaki's best game of the season by some way. He still needs a lot of work, but the potential is still there. Another season of nyc and maybe some nsw cup next season will see if he can take his game to the next level.

That was obviously the worst game Farrell has ever played. He had no confidence and his 6-7 errors cost us the game. The main one was being out of position for their kick at the beginning of the 2nd half. We were in complete control of the game had a great set in defense, forced the broncs to rush a kick from inside their own 30m line, only for Farrell to be way out of position, he should definitely be taking it on the full, there was only one place he was going to aim for but Mason was nowhere to be found. Not only did he let the ball get all the way to our 10m line, he dropped the ball in his return, to let the broncos score 2 plays later. And they steamrolled us from there. Quite possibly his last game for the Tigers.

OH and don't know why Mason was taking our restarts but his kick offs were also terrible. They all only went 30m, letting the broncs catch it on their 20m line and get to the 30 on tackle 1! Madness to sacrifice so much territory so needlessly!

Lodge never stopped trying. He'll probably play the entire season in first grade next year. Martin didn't get anywhere near enough ball and Levido is useless. Way too many hitups from our wingers when we were struggling working off our line. We have good props and need to use them much more than we did. Our back 3 is really not good enough. Ogden is just a big guy who barges over from close range, otherwise hes just a slow, poor defender who's crap under the high ball. Ditto Tohi, and Mason has been discussed already. Throw in that Hoeter has been playing out of position in the centres, he's a winger but due to injury has had to play at centre.

Our kicking game has been appalling for much of the past 2 months, and was again today. Put them under no pressure at all, didn't find open ground nor threaten the line. The team lacks discipline and leadership. I've said it a million times this season, but their attitude has been woeful for so much of this season they truly didn't deserve to make the prelim final. If you don't respect your opponents, and don't turn up ready to do your best you deserve to lose. Sometimes when the chips are down it can be hard but the team simply doesn't have someone to fire them up when they lose concentration.

Yes Seve, Woods and Cherrington could have made a big difference but the attitude of the team has been like this all season, even when those guys were playing. Still it was a very young team with many eligible to play again next season

A disappointing end to the season given we were on top in this game and seemingly self destructed. We should be strong again next season but Webster will be wondering about how this season slipped away.

i can not work out how the hell they let moses play the 1st semi then wont let him play the 2nd semi. i know he went for a groin opt, but they have put it of for weeks another 2 weeks would not have hurt. with cherrington out again they had the chance of putting moses into hooker in attack and back to fullback in defence, we could have played a extra forward. seems the whole club did not want any grade in the grand finals, because they did not give either the NSW cup or the 20s any real edge, had that been the roosters u can bet there two sides would be there.

You realise operations have to be booked in advance right? You don't just walk up and say hi i'd like a knee reco…

If he was booked in a month earlier, and if delaying it meant he would have to wait an extra 4-5 weeks before he can get another appointment then they probably decided it's better he be right for pre season training than playing a NYC game. Cherrington was only ruled out on gameday.

Some people are just bitter and look for reasons to bag the club without any realistic acknowledgements of real life scenarios.

Speaking of being bitter and bagging Balmain Boy, your quote below kicking a kid who yes made a few errors:

Mason had 4 kick offs, 1st tackles were made on the 19m, 15m, 20m and 23m, Levido took over the kick offs from there on so WTF are you on about. Check the Video.
Yes Mason didn't play well, 1st error he dropped the ball returning a kick but got to the ball in plenty of time and his positioning was OK, the "TEAM" didn't recover well and poor defense on the line allowed that try. The 2nd Mason error was on the back of a kick which deflected off the head of a Tigers player and ended up going in the opposite direction to where he was heading, maybe could have dived on the ball but the attackers arrived at almost the same time the ball was also dropped by another Tigers player. his 3rd error was a wicked bounce which went into the opposite direction of travel. It is one of Mason's worse games but luck didn't help at all.
They all missed tackles if you are counting them as his 5th, 6th and 7th errors.

I don't mind criticism but exaggerating stuff like you have shows what kind of a supporter you are.

Is that you Simon?

The kid had a shocker. Nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade instead of sugar coating things like many on here do. Even the best have shockers and regardless of the quality or reputation of the player if they stink they can't complain about being told how bad they were.

I'm sorry i haven't recorded the game in order to go back and re-watch everything that happened in the game to the smallest detail.

Both Mason and Levido had shockers which i believe i said. 90% of our kickoffs were hopeless. I'm not the only one who noticed this. Gave them way too much territory. Sorry if i couldn't tell from a zoomed out camera angle who exactly was taking each one, but again i don't re-watch NYC games over and over.

The main error I mentioned was the turning point in the game. What's the point in saying otherwise? He should have taken it on the full, no doubt about it.

Im happy for people to have opinions but putting the nail in the way you do isn't right. If you don't know or are assuming then generalise and don't single kids out.
