NYC Team Announcement: Round 16

Wests Tigers NYC Holden Cup Coach Brett Kimmorley has named his Round 16 side to take on the Penrith Panthers this Sunday, June 28 at Leichhardt Oval.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 1:45pm AEST as Kimmorley’s side look to consolidate their spot inside the top eight against the competition-leading Panthers.

After making his NSW Cup debut last weekend, five-eighth Te Maire Martin will return to the side this weekend, with Jeremy Marshall-King moving back to fullback.

Tom Satterthwaite will also return from injury on the wing, while Watson Heleta and Junior Tatola will move up to the Club’s NSW Cup side for this weekend. JJ Felise has been ruled out with an ankle injury sustained last week against the Sea Eagles.

Big ask against the competition leaders this week. Won't be surprised if they have 50 put past them this week if they play like they did last week.
 
Kimmorley needs to drop all other media work and focus solely on his role with us. He just doesn't seem to focus all his energies on us or this team. The players seem confused.

3rd week in a row Kharwin not named in any grade, though he has played the past 2 weeks in NSW Cup. Funaki injured or heading to the broncs?

The constant shuffling of players up and down from NSW cup to NYC is unsettling to both squads. Hindering and combinations to form. Its good to give the kids experience playing up a level, having 2-3 different players playing up or down a level every week is unsettling.
 
I feel there's been a cultural shift with the club regarding the importance on the NYC and NSW cup… Historically WT have done really well in NYC making the finals, winning a GF which is all well and good however our first grade team which brings in the money in has been sucking. TThehis to some extent can also be applied to our NSW cup sides who historically have had a lot of depth in the team and done well in competition.

The current mob seem to have approach of who cares about NYC and NSW cup and lets just use them for a platform into the first grade side.

I would support this approach. Don't get me wrong I love keeping an eye on our juniors and enjoy seeing them do well. but at the end of the day this is not doing anything for the success of our first grade team. Therefore I'm happy to see the decline in these competition and reduce resources in this competitions.

Also keep in mind there's talk about getting rid of NYC all together.

The reason why they in the top eight is probably because of the players he has in that team not necessarily the coach, I think webby the nyc coach from last year should've stayed.

Ive no problem with them focussing on junior development at the expenxe of upsetting a few combos here and there….at the end of the day no one really cares who wins these comps

So, if the team does well the players take the credit. If the team does badly, then the coach takes the blame? Wow.
 
With the yo-yo selection process are any of the players outside of the 17 getting a start with the RMC or SS sides?, is there an A grade side they can get some game time with?.
 
36'— Wonderful play sees Marshall-King goes straight through but Marsters is held up just short of the line. Still 6-0.

I couldn't tell you sorry. I think he needs to fill out a bit yet. Probably a couple of years if he continues to develop and improve.
 
NYC HALF TIME — Fantastic defensive effort from our young guns and they lead the top-of-the-table @PenrithPanthers 6-0!
