NYC Team Announcement: Round 20

Wests Tigers NYC Coach Brett Kimmorley has named his side to take on the Sydney Roosters in their Round 20 clash at ANZ Stadium on Friday, July 25.

Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 5:15pm AEST as Kimmorley’s side look to keep their finals hopes alive and move back into the top eight with a win this weekend.

After strong performances in patches against the Brisbane Broncos last weekend, Kimmorley has named a near-identical side for this week’s clash, with Matt Lodge included in the forwards. Bayley Sironen, Ray Stone and Hala Masila move back to the interchange bench.

That looks like a pretty good side, just depends on whether Kimmorley turned up this week to coach them.
 
A great 30m try by Lodge. 14 10 tigers after 10 mins second half. Can't see how he isn't in first grade.

Wests Tigers NYC Holden Cup side have gone down 28-22 to the Sydney Roosters in a tight contest from their Round 20 clash on Friday afternoon at ANZ Stadium.

Despite a close second half that saw just 10 points scored between the two sides, the match opened up in the second 40 with several great attacking plays from both sides, before the Roosters closed the match out better to emerge with a six-point win.

After a tight opening 10 minutes, it was the Roosters who opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Connor Watson backed up on the inside of a kick from Joseph Manu.

Paul Momirovski added the extras to give the visitors a 6-0 lead after 14 minutes.

After a couple of back-to-back penalties, Wests Tigers would hit back in the 26th minute when Esan Marsters finished off a wrap-around play with five-eighth Te Maire Martin.

Matt Woods’ conversion attempt hit the post, though, leaving the scoreline at 6-4.

Wests Tigers looked destined to take the lead just before half-time when Obed Karwhin went close in the corner, but the winger spilled the ball over the line.

The two teams would head to the half-time sheds at ANZ with the score still 6-4.

It didn’t take long for the score to change after the break, with the Roosters extending their lead in the 43rd minute when Joseph Manu dived over down the short side to be awarded a try, despite appearing to drop the ball in his efforts to plant it down.

Momirovski was unable to convert from out wide, though, leaving the score at 10-4.

A barnstorming run from prop Matthew Lodge would see the home side quickly pull back level in the 49th minute, and it wasn’t long before the hosts took the lead, with a great run from Bayley Sironen in the 51st minute setting up Jeremy Marshall-King.

Woods converted both tries to give Wests Tigers their first lead of the match, 16-10.

The lead didn’t last long for Brett Kimmorley’s side, with Shaquai Mitchell picking up a loose ball to burst through the line and level the match in the 53rd minute.

The Roosters would then regain the lead in the 60th minute when some deft handling from Latrell Mitchell found Manu out wide, who crossed for his second try in the corner.

Momirovski nailed the tough sideline conversion to push the Roosters’ lead to 22-16.

As the visitors continued to dominate possession and field position, Joey Lussick seemingly put the result beyond all doubt with a solo try from dummy half in the 67th minute, with Momirovski’s fourth conversion of the night taking their lead to 28-16.

Obed Karwhin would pull back one consolation try for the home side in the final minute of the match, but it wouldn’t be enough to affect the result, with the Roosters clinging on to emerge with a gripping 28-22 victory from their Round 20 clash at ANZ Stadium.

Wests Tigers NYC side will look to keep their top eight hopes alive when they take on the Melbourne Storm next Friday night for their Round 21 clash at Leichhardt Oval.

Oh Dear, how politically incorrect is this post, denigrating handicapped people instead of Kimmorley.
 
Not surprised we lost, actually nothing is really surprising me anymore this season.
 
Watched the whole game tonight ,Te Martin is thinking about the Panthers next season ,Lodge scored a good try but is a total meathead I do not know where this guys mind is? Seve is way way off NRL as is all of them really ..and I thought Taylor was the worst coach I have seen but Kimmorley beats him hands down what a poorly coached side , should of won that game , I really dislike seeing talented individuals being duded by the coach staff poor.

You can hear the nonsense Kimmorley says when he's commentating. For example 40 seconds to go until half time in the knights vs titans game and the knights get a penalty and naturally the knights take the 2 points. But Kimmorley starts ranting about why the knights would take the two points. How he got hired to coach the cubs is beyond me…it's really really concerning.

Was a disappointing game. Evenly matched first half, then we scored in back to back sets with some great attacking play. First hit up from the re-start we play the ball incorrectly 10m out from our line. Scrum, Roosters score 2 plays later and scores are tied again.

Our players, at all levels, simply make ridiculous individual errors on a regular basis.

Seve must be very frustrated. For both the WT and the QLD u20 side he barely gets to touch the ball. Attack continually goes the other side as Martin is the ony playmaker in the side. We should move him back to his natural position at left centre and pair him with Kharwin which would be a lethal combination.

Unfortunately Kimmorley cares more about punditry then his day job

Agree Seve is for sure frustrated he doesn't even get quality ball or if no ball, yep Martin is a left side playmaker. Move Seve back to left centre hopefully the coach puts him there but knowing kimmorley he has no idea. Seve was left centre for keebra and Australia schoolboys has always been on the left except when he came to the tigers they put him in the right.
 
Up until he got injured last year he was left centre, then they moved Heleta and he returned from injury on the right. Considering our left centre changes every week or two, why not play one of our best players in their natural position!
 
Forward pack should go good against the roosters becasue they have a decent forward pack this week, Sione is back at fullback so hopefully he goes good, maybe marshall is the missing link to the right side because Martin cant really pass quality balls to the right, which Seve has to get his hands on the ball early but i wouldn't be surprised if doesn't get any.

Probably because when he finally plays NRL that is the side he will play
