NYC Team Finals Week 2 v Manly

A lot of them are crap, some may play first grade.. Our best was probably Marion Seve.

Thats the case pretty much every year, for every club…two, three maybe four go on and up

I remember after 20's won the comp, payto said something like the average was 2.4 kids who play 20's go on to firsts and 1.2 of them play 50 games… No real good stats

Seve was pretty good.

The bench forwards looked good.

Glad we are not busting the bank on Martin; doesnt seem to have improved much over the past 12 months notwithstanding being named in team of the year.

Awww I feel sorry for young Sione. I hope he takes it as an inspirational moment and doesn't let it rock him. Getting hooked and dropped during the finals for someone who has never played fullback before must hurt…

That being said he was very low on confidence.

Been playing fullback in 3 different grades from last year until now.
He is the most incompetent player I believe I have witnessed…
Was it Mason Farrell he ousted from a spot. Made was a good little fullback and was replaced by this oversized imposter

Yep, Maccas love child.

Mason was a consistent fullback, but his confidence was shot by the constant ins and outs of team politics.

My love child? What? I've never rated Alofi…

Relax…McDonnell is the Macca Watto is referring too...

Boys gave it everything they had. Very proud of their effort against a stronger opponent. Good signs for next year from several of the young men; guys like young Stone. Kharwin didn't have his best game but has the potential to be a top winger with more experience. Love to see him get a run in the NRL side at some stage

I agree with this - also Seve and the 2 props are players of the future for me.

Was a spirited performance from the boys, they didn't give in, but again were incredibly inconsistent, even for NYC level.

You can't keep giving your opponents 60-70% possession and expect to win games. Martin again got a couple of nice try assists but was otherwise invisible. Looks like he'll need to be next to an experienced player calling the shots for him to make it, but he's still young. We had sets on their line in the last few mins and yet he didn't touch the ball once! He should have been touching the ball on almost every play!

Sirro had probably his worst match of the season. Didn't get involved at all. Marshall was invisible and again our outside backs never touched the ball. Hopeless tactics.

We had no possession in the first 25 mins so our starting forwards all had poor stats in comparison to our bench boys, but Pio and JJ in the 2nd half were the best props. Marsters can certainly score a try, especially considering he's mostly a bench player. 14 is a great effort.

The lift in intensity as soon as Stone got on the field was again immediately apparent. The kid could be a huge star. Will be great to see him after a full off-season in the gym. Hope he's re-signed long term.

The game really was typical of our whole season. Brilliant in patches, totally pathetic at others, and getting a raw deal from the refs for the most part. They did get Seve's first try and the no knock on at the death calls right though.

Having Papenhuyzen at the back will make a huge different to the team next season. Not sure who our halves will be though. But most of this squad will be back.

Surely JMK is only there because of who he is?
I've only ever seen a rare glimpse of anything remotely positive from this kid.
Considering his brother was tearing up the NRL at a younger age, I don't see any future for him as a dominant half.
Wasn't there another kid that kept him out of the Jersey early in the season… Levido maybe (Can't quite remember...)

I only see the NYC boys when they are televised on Fox, so I can't comment on JMK's season overall; however, he did score two good solo tries against the Raiders in the first semi and basically got them over the line.

Marshall was playing fullback until Levido went to Souths mid season. He's had a couple fo good running games of late but he's certainly no playmaker.

Can't see him making the step up, but may get a nsw cup contract due to lack of other options plus utility value.

He got the MOTM in the Canberra semi final BB

I wasn't here on the weekend , and didn't watch the game until early Tuesday morning but did anyone notice we got dudded on a five tackle set ??

After they went to Kharwin no try , we only got 5 tackles that set

Should of gone back to the zero tackle with the strip

JMK is definitely NYC standard (and pretty good at that level) no nepotism required to get a start in that team.

he is however not good enough to make the step up to NRL and even NSW cup might be a stretch.

Dont we have a heap of top back rowers in the system.

Funaki and Liovale have already been advanced through the grades early.
Woods, B Sironen and Cassel have all been standouts this year.
McCormack was injured throughout the season but was given a crack in NSW cup early and goes around next year.
Ray Stone has jumped into NYC like he has been doing it for years, a 2 time Aus schoolboy with 2 more seasons in NYC he could just be the best of them.

Even Masters looks pretty devastating at times.

We will have a very decent side again next season with a number of players still young enough to go again and a decent crop of kids coming from the various ball sides. (Ryan Pepnhuysen probably being the most exciting)
