Official Moses Mbye signs till 2022..

I'm not the greatest Mbye fan, think he's massively overrated by people. I suppose he's still young to go with the 4 yr deal so that plausible.
And if he were to come over this season I do believe he or Tui could play right centre I reckon. Moving Marsters to the backrow….. Thoughts

Marsters is about to become the NZ rep centre.

He is probably the best centre we have at the club.

Why would we move him into a position he isnt conditioned for?

Yeah understand your questioning but I think what this team needs is more speed out wide. I'm a great fan of Esan and think his career will eventually be in the second row. And its not foreign to him and he's a unit as well with ball skills. He just sux at kicking goals tho.

Cleary has just completed our spine for the next 4 years. 1\. Mbye 6\. Reynolds 7\. Brooks 9\. Liddle. Tui becomes the utility back from ISP.
Marshall will retire into a role with the WT.

We need to sign a gun edge backrower, back up hooker, back up prop and back up centre or two.

If we can get a hooker and edge forward this year we will get a top 8 position.

We need a strike centre to pair with Marsters as top priority.

Fonua?

Doesn't pass to his winger tho.

It was reported in one of the papers we are chasing a centre. Fonua needs to improve in certain areas and bring consistency to his game.

I hope we aren’t paying 700k cause that’s overs

Would’ve been happy with 500k

Reynolds and Moses Mbye both on 1.45 mil combined a season

Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge Cleary fan but I’m sick of hearing the “Cleary wont spend overs on one player” but we’re paying massive overs for both those two big time imo

Hope it pays off but oh boy for 1.45 mil we could do a lot better

Solid Post

I dont care about market price…

Pay what a player is worth to our club.

MBYE could be great and he has age on his side, JR is overs at 29 yo.

In Cleary we trust

Signs for Wests Tigers and then gets a call up for QLD the next day. That is fantastic even if he doesn't play, will be good experience.

Yeah that's what I was told .
You reckon brooks would be on that ?
I doubt it .

Brooks took a pay cut last year when Ivan re did the contracts for the fab 4.

550k

Thought he'd be on 350k Tops

No one knows what players are on so pointless guessing

Wouldn't be surprised if Benji pulls the plug after this year… I don't really get the excitement some are displaying re Mbye... He reminds me of Tui

That's my point too. This thread is full of comments about value for money or "overs". What does anyone here really know about how much players are on and how much they are actually worth? How can any fans here claim to know what is being spent or what is value in the current market.

Many people don't even know for sure what their peers are earning in their relative industries, so why would you claim or even bother to guess what footballers earn?

This is one example. What is "overs" and how many fans have first-hand experience balancing a sporting team salary cap with the needs of a professional footballing roster? What is "massive overs"? Such dumb comments honestly, based on nothing but fantasy and foggy numbers.

Just worry about how Mbye contributes to the club on and off field, and leave the salary cap mgmt to the professionals. Yeah sometimes they balls it up (Canterbury) but regardless, fan opinions about salaries and values is pointless - you have no influence and the numbers aren't even concrete.

And even if we engage teddy23 specifically on his comments, what are they based on? Rumour? 700K is 7.44% of the current salary cap ($9.4M), isn't that a reasonable figure? The average salary of Top 30 is $313K, you wouldn't pay your likely starting fullback double the average of the entire Top 30? That's right! How would you even know what is reasonable or normal?

It's just opinion after all …for example I would consider 50 cents overs for say Mitchell Moses and I'm sure he is on a lot more than that...

No one knows..figures reported in the media are often inflated ..or the terms are not fully stated...

I bet if you added up reported figures for squads,,every Club in the NRL would be over the Cap..

Just cant see Reynolds lasting another three years, still not convinced that Mbye is a longterm fullback, and Liddle - can see it, but he has got to be able to sustain it.
But if it works, then Ivan has done well.

100%
I don't think that's a sustainable spine.

Josh Reynolds is very broken…
Rather see something like...

1\. Mbye
6\. Brooks
7\. Cleary
9\. Liddle

If Liddle is too injury prone, recruit Liicha or Matt Parcell.

Can Josh Drinkwater play hooker?

What about Gamble?
Not much noise around him yet, but I’d like to see how he goes in 1st grade, might take a halves position of someone.

On Foxsports news they just reported that yes he has just been sent up to QLD to get the feeling of being in the Origin camp (emerging Maroons) .. and more importantly that he could be playing for the Tigers before the 30 Jun deadline as this will free up some money in the Dogs cap problem .. cause if he plays for the Tigers before the 30 Jun deadline he off the Dogs cap/books and part of our 2018 cap .. so pretty sure he will be playing in the Black, Orange and White within two weeks .. !!

Welcome about Moses .. :sign:

Mbye has signed and will fit in well

Yet again fans shooting him down before he has donned the jersey , give the bloke a chance …...

Tru. I imagine the media is often fed the numbers from the player managers who have a vested interest to add a few hundred thousand. Boosts their reputation as well as their client.
