Official Robbie Farah retiring at the end of 2019

@avocadoontoast

You're right - our lack of a decent prop rotation and forwards that don't put us on the front foot, is a far bigger problem. Until you fix that you can have any 5/8 you like and we won't do any better.

Congrats, but I bet I'm not the only one that's kinda glad he's retiring. Could have done it earlier and given Liddle a chance, but congrats on a great career and all the best in the after-life of footy.

I loved his passion for the club, and wish him well, but I am glad he is retiring, it is the right time, his mate should do the same, if we are going to be seriously challenging for a top 8 or top 4 spot next year, then his mate will be in reserve grade, if not we plod in to the bottom 8.

He's been our 5/8 this year and we are only a point out of the 8. Benji would not be signing for another year to play reserve grade. Besides, if he doesn't play 5/8, who does?

I think by next year when the whips are cracking his time will have well and truly passed, we can't be hanging our hat on a 35 year old 5/8th with limited game management skill to get us home next year. And as I said before, if Benji is still our run on 6 mid next year, we will be in trouble.
Grub might hang around, Madden might be ready by then, even Brimson might be here if you believe some, but Benji already makes enough bad decisions now, another year older and slower is not going to help. We need some one younger, there are CC players looking for an NRL start who won't cost a bomb.
I like Benji and Robbie, and love what they have given the club over the years, but every player has a time when their fitness/form/age catches up with them, and their contributions are no longer cutting it. And I feel by next year Benji will be done and he will have to be dropped, and finish his career in reggies if we want to play finals footy, which will be a shame, but he will have no one to blame but himself if it happens.

I feel like if we miss the 8 this year it will be despite having Marshall as our 6, not in spite of him being there. Same for last year. With Reynolds constantly injured, our only backup last year would have been Gamble, which would have been a complete disaster. This year, same story, Reynolds injured and Madden absolutely nowhere near ready for first grade.

I think Marshall, especially over the past month or so, has been one of our best and most consistent players. There are numerous issues with our roster, but at the moment Marshall isn't one of them in my opinion.

I am talking next year, this time in 12 months, if Benji is still our starting 6, I think we are in trouble, that is why I want him to finish up this year. Because I foresee a player who was once a club favourite, either not getting dropped and holding the NRL side back, or finishing up in reserve grade, either way a bad end to a great career

Robbie, Benji, Blocker, Benny, Sirro, Junior and my all time favorite Kev Hardwick. Nearly the end of an ERA for the tigers and me but boy the tigers have meant a lot in my life. Good Luck for the rest of the season and in whatever you choose to do in the future

Would be nice to keep all the other stuff ie Benji sucks we are stuffed for years to come etc etc out of this thread and just dedicate it to the memories of Farah on the field ..i think he deserves that..just a thought..

Great career Robbie. A true tiger in every sense of the word....... Now do we think we could get Anthony Watts a Cronulla contract for round 25. Would love to see that again!!!

Leaving the drama off the field aside, on the field he was an absolute competitor. One of the hardest working players on the field and as tough as a coffin nail. He was sublime in the period of '05-'11. He carried the team for a large part of that.

Will finish up as one of our all time greats, and rightfully so.

Thanks for being an out and out Wests Tiger!! Nobody could ever question your commitment to the club and I wish you the best of luck in retirement.

Admired his toughness.... Always been a leader on the park, one of our best ever & part of the brothers for life.
Well done Farah

Carried the club from 06-09. Probably the unluckiest player to never win a Dally M. Should have won one.

Congratulations on an amazing career. Thank you for the blood, sweat and tears you spilled for the club. Thank you for your leadership and your passion for the club and for the game.
You have given us all many wonderful memories and no doubt inspired many youngsters to chase their Rugby League dreams.
It has been a privilege to watch you and It is great to see you go out on your terms.
Now for some wins to send him out in style.

Goodluck in the future Robbie...

Part of that electrifying era where we dazzled every team ... by far the best team to watch on tv!!!!
