Official Robbie Farah retiring at the end of 2019

One of the greatest to retire from WT’s and to play 300 is a remarkable achievement. Plenty to love about his passion and how he played the game. I hope he gets to play some finals footy to complete the farewell. Would be great to see him play a positive role in the back office as well as bringing through the next generation. All the best Robbie.

I could care less for the people who dislike the bloke but im posting this just for the new fans who might not know the full extent of Robbie Farah's work for this club.

Its absolutely legendary.

He was up there with Cam Smith for most of his career and Cam Smith is a future immortal.

Dont listen to to anyone who says this guy wasnt a club legend!

Cheers Bonstonker.

Robbie Farah is a genius dummy half. The only thing which holds him back is his service, which is really the only difference between him and Cameron Smith.

I disagree. Cam smith had superior game management this is all. That and kicking goals from the sideline time after time.

In terms of skill Robbie has everything Cam has.
Tackling machine √
Brings forwards onto the ball √
Running game √
Deception around marker area √
Kicking game √

Although you're right in that Robbie's game management is not as good as Cam Smith's. But that's hardly a knock on Farah as Smith is arguably the greatest player ever.

One of the best 9's I've ever watched - saw him come through the grades and he was always a step ahead. All the best in retirement and no doubt he'll put in for the Tigers off the field.

Better that Smith when both were at their peak.

@The_Patriot thanks for sharing, wow. I had forgotten how dominant he was.

Actually that clip gave me a bit of pride in our short history. We are the only battlers in recent memory who could lay on points like that. I have to say although we have sucked for a while, after all the events of 2012-2018, with year after year of on and off field crap that having RF and eventually Benji finish as tigers is probably what we need to reverse the slide that started when Gibbs, Fifita, Ryan, and the best of all of those guys, Heighno, were all shown the door for that imposter from Melbourne. When I think back over the timeline of our club and think of the team Tedesco and (gulp) Slimey Fart could have walked into, all you can say is we’ve taken our medicine to end up in the doldrums year after year.

Bringing two legends back has at least restored some of the spirit that made our team so exciting. Ironically, Cleary probably did it because he clearly had no plan for the future. It is kind of full circle, from Sheens who was too smart for his own good and always thought he could trust his next “genius” idea, to Ivan the terrible, who had no ideas. When I hear Heighno on the ABC I like to think a guy like him gets some joy from seeing his mates come back to the club, and when we look at how poor we are at recruiting the perception that we are inept will hopefully start to turnaround off the back of some good sentiment.

Please flame me in other threads, this thread should be a celebration of a great career and the end of an era for the club.

Great post.

I feel like there’s a lot of baiting in this thread. Posters trying to goad others to have a snipe at him, and it’s failing. Regardless of how I feel about him as a person, I respect the player. He’s the best player to have put on our jumper, it’s not even debatable. Let’s save the baiting for another day and give this thread the respect it deserves.

Congrats on a great career Robbie a true Tiger, hopefully we get to have a beer with you on the Leichhardt Hill.

Both of you please just give it a rest.

Thanks for the memories Robbie, especially '05 and even '10 and '11..........years we should have won, but still great sides.

Glad to see him finish his career here

Hopefully he can go out on a high. I have had a bit to say about him, but my oldest daughter was devastated when he left (she is now 11) as she has seen the photo of him holding her as a baby at a post match function.

All the best in retirement.

Wish him all the best. One of my all time favourite football players. The guy is passionate about the club and the game which often times is misunderstood and mistaken for arrogance and selfishness.

My only hope is that he doesn’t turn into another Benny or Blocker who reporters turn to for a quote every time something happens at the tigers.
