What gets me is a few weeks ago there was a concern that having Tamou and Ofahengaue starting left in experience in the rotation so they adjusted by starting Ofahengaue on the bench and bang we beat Newcastle ..

Now ..umm..never mind..

Stumbled

So how good is Simpkin really ? This is for people that watch NSW cup on the regular. Stats look unreal but what about the stuff that the stats don’t show. Excited to watch him debut, even though it’ll be in the absolute melting pot

He is good. In previous games he has been rushed, tried to do everything and the best way I could describe him was frantic. In last Sundays game he was much more controlled, not trying to do everything. Gave good service to the halves and timed his runs well. He's earned his spot for sure.

That’s about spot on. Hopefully he plays like last week and not trying to impress the coach in game 1.

He is ultra confident that’s for sure.

There, fixed it for you Madge...

1 Daine Laurie
2 David Nofoaluma
3 James Roberts
4 Moses Mbye
5 Zac Cini
6 Adam Doueihi
7 Luke Brooks
8 James Tamou
9 Jake Simpkin
10 Alex Twal
11 Luke Garner
12 Luciano Leilua
13 Joe Ofahengaue

14 Jacob Liddle
15. Stefano Utoikamanu
16 Thomas Mikaele
17 Zane Musgrove

18 Tommy Talau
19 Alex Seyfarth
20 Tom Amone
21 Michael Chee Kam

It is really weird that apart from Talau/BJ/Roberts/Noffo/Talau/AJ, Madge has never named an outside back in the 21.

I don't think Madge has Cini/Gebbie/Fitzgibbon anywhere close to the NRL squad this year.

Cini is the only one of those in the 30. Fitzgibbon and Gebbie not even available for selection at this stage.

Weird that we only have 6 outside backs and Mbye in the 30 then.

Out of that, only Nofoaluma whose best position is as winger.

NBA that way ➡️
Thank you

Anyone know what the thinking is in dropping Musgrove to the bench? I thought he's been really good, our best prop in terms of hit-ups anyway. Stefano and Musgrove would probably be a better starting combo, yeah?

Other thoughts: I agree with others that Twal also isn't right at 13. I know this is unpopular but I still want Mbye at 13. I think as a runner who also has a passing game, he'd be effective at 13. He defends well in the middle when he's there too.

I would prefer Talau at centre. Wish he'd get more of a chance to establish himself there because I don't think he's a long-term winger and he's probably not better than other options when he's put on the wing. He's one of our potentially good players that we need to see progress, why play him out of position in a spot he doesn't really suit? I'd also give him a go at 13 if Mbye didn't work there.

So liddle makes 50 odd tackles and is one of few having a go and gets dropped ..
A seasoned semi pro like Nuffoaluma has the worst performance of his life and gets retained ?
Hope Souffs do a number on us 60plus

As someone else said, it wouldn’t surprise if Liddle is a bit banged up and needs a week off.

Maybe ?
But there’s a few that need dropping before him ..
In Madge we trust hey ?

Yeah starting to regret that username. In hindsight it was always pretty risky!

?
I’d be changing it ...
Geo can sort it out so you can keep your rep points and Private messages etc

Yeah cheers. I’m giving Madge till round 13 to turn this around or he’s getting the boot.

Go safe, Incaretakerwetrust.

Winger playing centre, centre playing wing, prop playing second row. #sheenius

Madgestic

Absolute Madgness ....

Talau has been very disappointing, would've been happy to see him in reserve grade to learn a bit, get involved and get some hunger in him.
Happy to see AJ back, he hits the ball up with some vigour at least. Will be interesting to see how he goes at centre. Worth a shot.
What to do with Nofo? He's been off this season, maybe a stint at centre is worth a shot in the next few weeks? At least he can't leave his wing exposed like for that first try last week.....couldn't believe he let that Hammer bloke stroll around him down the sideline like that. Can Nofo actually tackle, physically tackle? Positionally he's hopeless but as a number 14 maybe he can come on and sniff gaps up the guts if he can at least manage to stop a few blokes in defence.
Who knows??? It's all bloody guess work with any of our blokes ATM, in whatever position on the field you care to choose.
Not sure it's a great week to blood Simpkin though, we will in all likelihood cop a buggering from Souths and he will be right in the middle of it. Hope he has a great game regardless, but it will be a tough debut for the kid.

Lots of comments on here about players picked in positions from an attacking perspective. Madge did not think about our attack when picking this team, I am certain of that.

Nofo is still on the wing. Defence mustn't be too much of a priority still......

I just dont want to see a huge grin on Lattrel's face. But I am afraid that is all they will be showing. Very concerned, but still a pin prick of light at the end of the tunnel, I hope.

Twal starts at 13, great in defence and extra prop making meters, once the defence softens, mybe goes to lock. He stay there till Jake needs a rest.

Agree with Talau but our halves seem to not be using our edges correctly. So moving AJ who has a few issues with his eyes might be smart, just run hard and get those meters. Pushing Talau to wing gets him more involved in terms of running kicks back, great finisher if you give him a hole or space.
