Just seeing again Clearys field goal attempt that hit the upright and raiders raced away to score...

My question is if a Penrith player had regathered the ball first....player initially in front of Cleary kicking...would that be offside?

Riff would? in hindsight been better conceding a penalty .Tackling defender in the air.

Yes they would be off side.
I reckon the commentators missed why those two Penrith defenders didn’t tackle Stuart as well…it wasn’t about tackling him in the air, it was about being offside

It would not have been a tackle in the air as the ball had bounced as well as replays showed Martin was behind Cleary when he kicked the ball making him free to make the tackle.
A really bad decision by Martin.

I need to watch again cleary was about 35m out i think...impressive chase by martin if he was behind.
I thought cleary was way too deep...five metres closer it probably goes thru

Martin from memory was johnny on the spot but baulked at making a decision,. Are you asking if its play on because it hit the posts, I certainly hope there is no rule 32 sedtion25b to explain it if there is , it should be player offside /in front of kicker / interference in defence
