I hate to be negative, but surely I’m not the only one who think he’s a complete plodder offers legit nothing in attack - half decent in defence but doesn’t make up for his poor attack whatsoever
Surely he has something on Madge, I can’t see how he manages to get selected let alone start every week....
I think it would be good if a lot of people on this Forum gave some of these young blokes a go.
Clark has played 14 games (5 this year for a total of 164 minutes, equivalent of 2 games) and he is only 23. Props in Rugba League do not mature until much later, he is learning his craft. They are also much further behind than the island boys. He has been rushed into the NRL because we are short.
The same as Hoffman the other night, people calling him a plodder and give him the flick after 80 minutes. That's ok, play him out of position, and have him play along his captain (which all should have been a good learning curve) should have,
instead he got hung out to dry and people are calling for him to be given the flick.
Some of these youngsters are only playing NRL because of our predicament, possibly playing 1 or 2 seasons too early, they are only helping out, but that is alright, crucify them anyway.
Some people are saying Madge is doing the right thing, build the team up from the bottom, buy really good young blokes etc. Neck minute, he's a plodder, why did we get him, slow as a wet week, get rid of him....blah, blah, blah.
Some of these young blokes may be the real deal, they may turn out to be duds, I don't know but we need to give them a go for God's sake.
If not go back to buying old blokes who are nearly cripples, that suck up the salary cap and sit out their early retirement in cc or in the injury room.
Also, Clark played multiple games last season and has had a full pre season off the back off that with Madge too and he’s 23 so it’s not like he’s a raw talent or player....
For Hoffman however, I agree with your points but I don’t think the same applies for Clark but that’s just my opinion
You do realise he is 23, of course you do you mentioned it above.
14 games for a prop - at best 30 minutes per game.
You are a hard marker - I think you really need to give him a go. You don't become a Glen Lazarus overnight. Hesitate to use the term patience but that is what it takes. You obviously prefer to buy these old guys than develop young guys.
Few weeks back everybody was calling for Eisenhuths guts for garters. Look how everybodys attitude has now changed.
Clark is young and inexperienced and should also be given the chance to improve under Maguire coaching just like Eiso.
