On Tim Sheens

Who would have thought We would have a squad that included Benji Robbie Lawrence Gall and then add Ellis Lote, and Blair. (And the rest)

Top players are attracted to Top coaches. They are no mugs.

Coach Sheens aint perfect but which one out there is??

This year has been disastrous in terms of injuries and somehow were are in it without our real strike power being on the park.

Attitude at the club starts from the top.

We will continue to build and become a NRL powerhouse for many years to come due to Tim Sheens.

Yes some of his decisions have been and are mystifying and we hadn't made the semis for 4 years after winning the GF. Whether not making the semis is his fault or a sign of lack of maturity of the playing roster we cannot answer.

What he has done, however, has turned the club from being a place no rep quality players wanted to come to into a place that you now have to earn your place in. While I am sad we have let Gibbs et al go it's a sign you have things in place and running well when you can replace a good player with a better one rather than having to rely on the same old every year.

Tim sheens is a ledgend i will never swap him and yeh spartan ur right we would have not bought big names like lote and blair they said they wana join the best coach if sheen sleft we would not have blair for next year but in sheens we trust 😀 go u tigers for life next year top 4

Ok Everybody, 3 Cheers for The Fonz !!!

Hip Hip ! HOORAY !!!!!

Hip Hip ! HOORAY !!!!!

Remember Bug no negative posts about Sheens for the rest of the year
Even if he does replace Gallaway with MacKinnon or the Titans put 60 on us

Sheens came to this club while it was a basket case and transformed it into a side that people want to watch and support. The culture of this club is one we can all be proud and Sheens has a lot to with that.

He built the club from scratch in 2003 and recruited and retained the best juniors he could find knowing the first few years will be tough while they found their feet. The team went on to win the Holy Grail in 2005 a year ahead of Sheens' timetable.

We then had some lean times which can be attributed losing our halfback and not being able to find a suitable replacement. We were also hamstrung by the fact we couldn't spend our full salary cap.

In 2010 we came within 2 points of a second premiership.

In 2011 we are on a tremendous roll coming into finals playing our usual flamboyant football but with a maturity and hardness that has semi final football written all over it.

Sheens is human and has made mistakes but he's been great for this footy club. We are one the best supported and respected footy teams in the comp and that is in no small part to the work Sheens has done.

X2

I've been a supporter of Sheens since day 1 but if the tigers hadn't made the finals this year I would have joined the chorus calling for his head. But considering the injuries we've had this year the boys are now playing beautifully and my confidence in sheens is well and trully back. In terms of player retention, culture, playing style and off field behaviour we are now the envy of every other NRL club. This is about 80% due to sheens IMO. None of the boys want to leave and plenty want to come and that is something that has never happened before in my lifetime as a wests/balmain supporter.

Sheens biggest weakness is his defensive coaching and the much lambasted puzzling team selections. but hey he's proven pretty much everyone in the forum wrong by sticking with moltzen at fullback and lui at half this year. Lets just never speak of john morris or daniel fitzhenry again.

x 3 .. totally agree with all of these comments about sheens. when he re-signed earlier this year i was more than happy especially when good coaches with added value are as scarce as hens teeth. i reckon atm there would be about at least a dozen clubs who would grab sheens with open arms if they could. i quite like the idea of a coaching dynasty for sporting teams and the positive, winning culture that goes with it.

Great coach …great club....

Bug 2 of the people you mentioned a year or so ago to replace sheens was kearney and brian smith....haha

How they go with their teams proves little.

Look at Sheens at NQ.

You can only gauge them coaches with our team, not theirs.

Or are you suggesting even with the roster we have, we'd still be down the bottom with those coaches in charge

results over the past 6 weeks have been great. BUT would like to see consistency throughout the year and year-on-year, especially around defence, use of the bench, and our kicking game.

BTW why did we wait this long to change our defence to a 'rush' style. unless it can't be sustained? in any case, happy to be proved wrong by another premiership!!!

Come on we are on the verge of doing something very special this year !!

Sheens to me has changed this year, taking a step back from being the 'father figure' and making some tough decisions in relation to player retention etc.

Enjoy the ride everyone, you heard it hear first :supporter:

Not that i was quoting you but seen as though you quoted me.Don't be a hypocrite you have judged sheens on his winning percentage which dropped considerably with the cowboys and bug is always using that on him when ever he can and typically you then say you cant judge it like that.Well king sir what do you judge it on.

Who said we would have this roster if sheens wasn't with us…he built this team....if you think the team is that great then sheens needs commending not knocking all the time.

Each club has the same amount of money to spend and both coaches have taken their team backwards and i was just reminding bug this

If we lost Sheens, the majority of the team would remain the same

Smith took them to a GF last year, Kearney has just began his NRL career but has a good rep record. They all have their ups & downs.

Try and discuss things like an adult for once without petty name calling

Lol you should talk. You cant discuss anything with you….your always right aren't you.

In your opinion the team would remain the same.

Ask smith if he would swap his 3 or 4 grand finals losses for 1 win....i know what he would say.

Kearneys first year as a nrl coach they running last.Lol yep real good.Gee i could imagine if we run last

Im not bothered about kearney or smith really....once again i was just reminding BUG about what he said.. not insane

Did I say that ??? I remember saying Smith had a greater coaching record, but that wouldn't be hard, as the Fonz has the poorest win/loss ratio of any long term coach in the history of the game.

And that my friend, is a fact that no one can dispute.

Sheens also has the 2nd best record for premierships behind Bennett who had a Qld Origin team for most of the victories.

That is also a fact no-one can dispute.

Sheens also had an Origin team for a couple of those Premierships,

Another fact !!
