Once a game manager took over...

Correlation is causation. Liddle goes out there and we score three tries in ten. We won the last game he started. He's an absolute weapon.

I like this 👍

If Harry is what got us in the game that's a bit of a concern. Can Liddle do that?

He didn’t mate . It was Liddle . He’s amazing at putting the forwards onto the footy , and little deception around the ruck . Like little jinks to the left , and going right . Then Doing it again and actually going left . He watches what the first marker does (most teams have the first marker shoot , then the second trail ) .

To be fair, Grant was doing that pre injury. Taking nothing away from Liddle.

If he stays healthy for a season, watch out.

Yep , I’m not bashing grant . He’s a weapon ! And seems like a good bloke. But he wasn’t our saviour tonight . And the guys who were , at the moment are the ugly step children , so people don’t want to give them the love they deserve .
I’ve been royally irritated with brooks lately . But he was the one tonight .

Benji was a huge letdown tonight. His head wasn't in it and I thought he was trying to get suspended but didn't know how. I had uncharitable thoughts (ban avoidance) when he kicked on the third.

When we had a full spine (albeit two were hookers) we suddenly looked great.

Benji vindicated the clubs decision tonight...Benji retire mate, don’t ruin your legacy by playing reserve grade elsewhere....

THIS.

I don't want to sound like I dislike Benji...but it is painful watching him think he still is up to it. One good game every month does not cut it and one good kick or pass VS 4 dud kicks and passes to the toes does not cut it.

Rest the body for two weeks mate...come back and get your LO farewell and move on.

He just has no footy IQ.

He has always played on instinct...which was fine when Prince ran the show. But been terrible most years since, barring one or two after Bennet coached him and forced him to take less risk. Last few years been right back to his rocks / diamonds 20/80 stuff.

That performance by Benji again was rocks and diamonds he really should not be playing on next season.
Foran injured today put a line through him as well, Great.

No...but Liddle can absolutely be a gun hooker. We just need someone to go with him running the team and let Brooks and Mbye play more free.

A big thing was the grubber in the in goal for their3rd try I think. Benji should have got there , he would have even 1 year ago , but he just didn’t have the legs . To me , that play should have been his “I’m done “ moment . If he’s being honest with himself .

The moment Harry slipped into first receiver we looked like a footy team.

Marshall did his best to ruin it with a couple of rocks / diamonds plays...but Grant ran the last ten like Smith or Cronk would have.

Every play had purpose and build to the next one.

What a difference.

Brooks suddenly freed up...Mbye finally got some good ball when he linked.

This is what a team with a real leader / game controller can look like. All we need to do now is find another Harry Grant.***

***Noting that won't be easy...but at least we saw what it might look like.

What are you on about, as I didn't see that at all, rather, crisp service from dummy half and Harry backing up through the middle with an occasional catch and pass. Basically we sped up the middle.

I think it's unfair to assign 'saviour' status to a single player. We won because in the last 10-15 minutes we had multiple attacking options with Liddle, Harry and Brooks all willing to take a run or jump into DH.

Once we got a sniff we lifted in defence, scored tries, kicked goals and, in the end, the good guys won. Kudos to all of them. Against a torrent of possession we hung in and gave the fans a thrill. Even sweeter snatching the points from Manly and DCE.

Even his kick early set with three minutes to go was a nothing play. THANKFULLY, Manlys fullback took the ball out.

Liddle added some spark when he came on. Allowed Grant to play as a lock - the difference was that he actually looked like he wanted the ball, unlike our other forwards. Many giving Benji grief here but maybe he actually took a step back and let Brooks, Grant and others take the lead - maybe Madge even directed him to.

Not to argue , but I’d say grant is a 7-10 for that , and Liddle is a 9.but grant has amazing ball playing , which Robbie Farah style can stifle the attack . But Robbie Farah is a legend , and I’ll be surprised if Harry isnt wearing maroon by years end .

Well not me and not with Brooks either, but hey the bandwagons of deseerters were overflowing for both of them.

I just rewatched the comeback. Harry Grant was everywhere. He was unbelievable. Liddle's service was exceptional but the best thing he did was give room to Grant to play every other position and he did. He played halfback, ran decoy line, backed up every ruck, hell he was there waiting for the bat back on the last try. Grant was put simply incredible. It was poetry. I cannot state how dumbfounded I was by his play in the last 11 minutes.

Yes its always the nothing plays with early kicks.
Nice to see him at least get a win in one of his final performances with the team.

That was one hell of a game Nil D but liked that we never gave up in the closing minutes something to build on.
Happy for Madge as well for all his effort in sticking to his guns with the whingers,

Me either on both . I have a penchant to be far more loyal to tigers juniors . Even Adam Doueihi is a tigers junior so will have my backing to the hilt .
