Are you reluctant to change as you get older?
We're all fairly savvy with the net, so thats something, though I know people that arent and dont use computers or smartphones.
Its sometimes seems hard to keep up with the constant change going on around us
What things dont you like that are changing?
I dont like buying things online, though tickets and payments are different…I need to feel a shirt, try on shoes and pants...clothes online isnt my go
I have an E-tag, an Opal card, a keycard, get my bills D-debited...though I still like paper statements..especially insurance policies...car rego always creeps up on me now Ive no sticker to remind me, the text meassage from the RTA or is it RMS , PMS, RTS, RPA...one of those...reminds me
I wonder if Malcolm or Bill will text me? Someone else recently did.
I havent hired a DVD from a machine, havent used VR goggles, Ive seen 3D TV but that gave me a headache...I avoid drive thrus, I like to take my time and the lanes seem very narrow. I still watch the news on TV but havent bought a paper in a decade or more but a mate at work younger than me does, someone still cuts my hair for $10...though they speak a different language but thats OK with me.
OK with change?
I don't mind some change.
Won't buy clothes online but, will buy parts or small items online. Although I tend to visit a store if I need something big then surf the web for the best price.
Love PayPass, I don't have much cash in my pocket these days and when I do it tends to sit there for ever. I went into the bank branch the other day and they no longer look like a bank.
Still love the sound of vinyl records putting the needle down, the crack and pop but, I love my iPod, my whole music library is in there.
Hair cut costs me $15, from a bearded barber but that's because I get a buzz cut now days to match the rest of my head. Otherwise it's $20 or more.
ETags are great beats stopping to pay the toll but, on some trips the tag goes off like a fire cracker with the amount of tolls in Sydney nowadays.
I should add the number of warning sounds from my car gets to much us well - old lane markings on the road - lane departure beep, going around a bend and a parked car on the side of the road - forward collision beep, …...parking sensor beep, ..........tyre pressure beep, .....seat belt, making a phone call is so hard - she doesn't listen I say call Garry - she calls Darren. My heart couldnt take the shock from all the warnings , so I had my son switch most of the warnings off - I had the car serviced the other day and they are back on! I preffer to drive my old ute around, power windows is the only tech that she has.
Finger buns, what finger buns don't get me started on finger buns.
I don't go to the local anymore cause there isn't one - there is this thing that is a cross between a pub, club and kindergarten where there are crazy unattended kids screaming and yelling with no parent around. I used to go to the pub to get away from the kids, catch up with mates and watch footy - now days I drink at home with mates.
Lots of goods things are happening don't get me wrong but sometimes I get nostalgic and wish I could go back to the days of my youth in the 70's when people by comparison were optimistic about the future and looked each other in the eye when they had a conversation.
