One Month In

Ok so we're four rounds into the competition now and we're 2-2

Over the first month we have played 2 bottom 4 sides and 2 top 4 sides.

Titans Round 1 - We were expected to win easily against a depleted team and ended up winning by 1 point in a game we were pretty scrappy in. We won ugly on the Gold Coast.

Dragons Round 2 - We were expected to just win and ended up winning pretty comfortably in a game that showed how good we can really be. Still not our best performance but in 20 minutes we completely blew the opposition away.

So after the first two rounds we have won both our games in two games the league world was expecting us to win without playing our best footy for extended periods of time.

The next two weeks were sure to be testing playing last years grand finalists within 5 days of each other. We weren't expected to win either and in fact some were expecting us to get touched up in successive rounds.

Souths Round 3 - We tried hard and never gave up against the best team in the comp but still went down 20-6\. Execution was our ultimate downfall but nonetheless the league world was singing our praises after a decent performance defensively and never say die attitude.

Bulldogs Round 4 - Fielded our youngest ever side with 8 players under the age of 22\. Came into this game as heavy underdogs and that was before we lost three experienced campaigners. We played arguably our best game of the season and absolutely gave it to a top 4 side. Got out to an 18 point lead but ran put of puff in the last 20 as our kick chase and defence slackened and let them back into the game. A game we should've won after being 18 points up but again the league world sings our praises as we were probably the better side against last years grand finalists. Absolute heart breaker of a loss but plenty of lessons to be learnt out of this one.

So in four weeks we have beat two teams we were expected to beat and put in two admirable performances against last years grand finalist in games no one gave us a chance in. We sit at 2-2 heading in to some winnable games over the next month against Parramatta, Warriors and Canberra before we can again test ourselves against the Bulldogs and see just how much we have learnt from our first month.

In my opinion we have done extremely well to be where we are right now and if we are to put the heart break of last nights loss to the side surely everyone can acknowledge positively what we have achieved over the first month of 2015.

We sit at 2-2 with a positive for and against after playing last years grand finalists with a much better start to the season than teams expected to make the top 8 - Cowboys, Manly, Sharks, Broncos.

With the teams mentioned above faltering do you think we can make the top 8 ?

I do :sign:

I think we seriously can make the 8 , my only question is how we are going to fare up with injuries come the back end of the year .
It is vital we win as many games as we can now as SOO is coming up very soon with Woods and Farah very likely to feature we are going to be lacking that experience through that time .
We have a very favourable last 6 games to finish of the year .

So to answer your question i believe we can ( injuries will dictate that )

Very good post Tony33 thank you.

During Origin we play Souths, Cowboys and Parramatta. Given we aren't relying on Robbie as much this year and we have more important players now I think the origin period will favour us in two of the three games this year. Souths minus Inglis and Cowboys missing Thurston means we are now in both games.

We have a very favourable draw this year

Still to early to tell IMO as the old saying goes you don't win Premierships in March but you can lose them…we are in a better position than some of the more fancied sides pre kick off see Cowbees...

Re-visit mid July

Yeah i saw that already , i'm hoping in Cherrington and Lodge can carry us through .

Souths will be missing : Inglis , Mcqueen, Dylan Walker has to be there and maybe Adam Reynolds . I also give Alex Johnson an outside chance.
But Daley has stated already that he wants a half combination that is already established at Club level and Keary would get found out at Origin level IMO
Cowboys will be missing : Thurston , Scott , Taumalolo and maybe Tamou :bash . Taumalolo has to be there is dynamic and this Arena is his IMO.
Pawwa will be missing : Watmough and maybe Hopoate

I rank the competition into 4 groups from strongest to weakest. I have it as

Roosters Souths

Dogs, Manly, Storm, Panthers, Cowboys

Tigers, Eels, Warriors, Broncos, Sharks

Titans, Dragons, Raiders

The way i see it, we have the potential to move up into the second bracket. But maybe not till, yep you guessed it, next yr.

I'm pretty happy with what we've shown so far.

The performances over the last two weeks against the top two sides have been great and, when this new and young team can gel some more, i'm confident we'll end up knocking on the top 4

Mostly right.

I don't rate the Cowboys this year, they are on form in the bottom four, something not right considering their squad. I think the Sharks are also in the bottom tier, I don't rate their coach and their backs are pitiful, Ennis is also very crap. Knights would be in our tier.

I think we can move into the next tier if we keep going and improving. I think we have found the right coach in JT.

I see alot of penrith circa 2012-13 in us this year except i think we will make the top 8.

I really think we can make the top 4 next year, which would put us just under the roosters and souths.
