I WAS a fan of Daniel Fitzhenry before his move to England and specifically as a Winger!
I am no longer a fan of the selection of Daniel Fitzhenry in 2010 specifically as a Winger and also not on the bench as a Utility Player! Obviously coach Sheens picks him in the 17 because he feels that he can cover just about all the backline positions as well as cover Farah as Hooker.
My concerns over his selection is that when he has been on the field so far after 6 rounds of footy he has failed to contribute to the teams performance either in attack or defence. I know that he has had limited time on the field but his continual selection is keeping out other high quality players and this will become more evident when a fit Simon Dwyer, Jason Cayless (hopefully) and Tuiaki etc make themselves available.
If the concern of the coaching staff is that we need a back/backup Hooker on the bench then surely as a result of an on-field injury then Fulton can cover Hooker/5/8/Centre and Farah can cover 1/2 back/5/8 and even Heighnington could cover Hooker. Also Flanagan came to the club as a Utility Player and I am sure he can play Hooker/5/8/Centre if an injury occurs throughout a a game?
If we are to be a force in this 2010 Competition then the best available 17 MUST be selected each week and unfortunately for me it will never include Daniel Fitzhenry. Fitzy has provided some good memories ( as a Winger) but the Wests Tigers have to make the play-offs in 2010 & the most skilful attacking & defensive players need to be on the field. :bulb:
