Opposing team catching to ball & making it dead or out

I have a real problem when an opposing player touches or catches the ball from a kick & plants a foot over the sideline or dead ball line & the other team is penalized for that. If the kick would of bounced in the field of play , the team that touched it last should be penalized if they touch it & it is out of the field of play. Because my way of thinking is, if they hadnt played at it or touched it, the ball is still in play.Once a team has kicked the ball, why are they held accountable for what the other team decides to do with it? Thoughts anyone?

Do you mean when they put their foot down on or outside the line first and then touches the ball?
No. I think the game has bigger problems.

About 810th on the list of problems with the current game. And no, if a player catches the ball and plants his foot out of bounds good/smart play by the player. Dont have a problem with it, all players should know the rules, don't give the opposition a chance to make that play.

Yep get it , but a good kick off lands in the middle of the opposition’s try line right under the posts , that’s where the ball needs to go , high and long with a chance to hit the posts or bar , nice and high to give us time to get down and pen them in , surround them

Leave it alone imo
It also works the other way where the ball is not deemed out until it touches the ground.
Example Greg ingles diving over the deadball and tapping it back to gasnier

Naaaah - kicking team should be rewarded with a good kick like that.

RE OP - yah totally get it. But at the same time not that bothered by it, kicking team takes a risk trying to get the ball to bounce out, and that's the price you pay I guess.

It’s quite good skills to plant your feet and catch a ball in that moment and easy to stuff up. I say keep it.
