Options?

Ok so we need 2 centres for next week. Maybe those who have seen state cup can enlighten us on the available options.

The possible options i can see are Fine, Tukafeka, Austin, Thompson and Halatau. Or move Nofo to centre and bring in Hitchcox on the wing.

Are any of these guys up for it?

I'd be happy to give Fine and Taukafa a go at this stage. Lawrence has hands like feet and the mobility of an aircraft carrier and Lulia looks like he's trying to moonwalk back in time.

Select Nofoalama as centre and bring in Hitchcox to play wing. There is also a big handy winger, John Ogden, in the Under 20's. Bring in Richards to centre to replace Lulia and put Ogden on the wing. These are much better options than what Potter continually persists with.

Ogden to me is a bit of a plodder. He's got backrow written all over him IMO.

Fine and Tukafeka in for me. They may not be the best but they are alot better than Lulia and Lawro (a couple of mannequins with Tigers jerseys draped over them would be better).

1\. Moses
2\. Nofo
3\. Fine
4\. Tukafeka
5\. Richards

Lawrence on the bench (last chance saloon).

Another option could be Nofo at FB, Moses goes to 5/8 (depending on the latest with Anasta) and we leave Lawrence in at 4 with Fine. Tukafeka sits on the bench ready to take his chance if any other back gets injured (God forbid) or Lawrence has another Barry Crocker.

Look I'm not saying changes aren't to be considered, but can you realistically plan to run out a team where only the wingers have played > 1 FG game, and one of those is only in his second year?

That backline has about 130 NRL games experience and 100 of those belong to Pat Richards.

What have we got to lose? It's not like Lawrence or Lulia are better than ANY other option.

There's ordinary, and then there's not ready. There is a reason why teams bring players on slowly, you don't want a debutant every next week.

Fair call jirskyr.
A few months ago I proposed that teams not hold by traditional/conventional positions. http://www.weststigersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21055&p

If I were the coach then the time would be now for such trials. I'd stuff playing 2 centres and go with the best of what I've got, rather then trying to choose inept or not ready players just so that they fit in with conventional positional standards. That's just me. (I bet you're thinking thank heavens I'm not the coach!).

Tim Brasher played in a FOG's game last night in Rockhampton

I'll find out how he pulled up

The NSW Cup blokes defence doesn't stand out and if its not good in NSW Cup it will be garbage against Lyon and Matai getting quality ball from DCE and Foran

Look Lawrence's hand were shocking but he found a few holes yesterday , his hands aren't usually that bad

The problem is your centres are extremely important in defence and it wouldn't matter if you had a spine of Sterling ,Lewis ,Inglis and Farah if your centres aren't breaking the line , not running good angles or creating space for your wingers they might as well be Fitzhenry ,Fritz ,Caine and Luani
