Optus hack

Just wondering if anyone here has been affected.

My missus is with optus and hasn't heard anything from them, hopefully that's a good sign for her

They're saying ex customers as far back as a decade have had data compromised... I was with them for probably more than 15 years up till about 3 years ago... My optus email was affected by a virus and I had to change to google... Cannot get into the old optus email anymore...

Do they contact you if they know you been affected?

I got an email last Saturday - a quote below:

The information which has been exposed is your name, date of birth, email, phone number, address associated with your account, and the numbers of the ID documents you provided such as drivers licence number or passport number.

I found the last part too vague - what is it that actually been revealed? I want to know what actions I need to take to both avoid being scammed and lowering stress levels.

I tried to contact them to find more detail. 4 hours on online chat later and no response at all from their support. Tried calling - on hold for over one hour - no response at all. Great PR exercise for a company in crisis.

There have been reports they are contacting people directly with more detail but FFS - over one week and nothing?

NB. I've been with these mothers for over 23 years. Why do they still have my ID details?

I got the email Tuesday, none of my ID documents were on file only name, DOB, email and address.

yes if you have been affected they will contact you, if you haven't heard that is looking promising
