Origin 111*Live Game Thread...

I thought Qlder's were supposed to have some magical Origin gumption that never let them lose? What happened to that.
They had the lead with 3 minutes remaining, celebrated like they had the game won, their best ever player misses a kick that most park players would slot and then they let a hack like Jennings stomp over 4 or 5 of them to score the match winner. Whatever happened to doing it for Cozza? Myths are always meant to be shattered I guess.
If that was NSW that gave up the win after having the game in both hands then that s*** myth would have got repeated ad nauseum for the next 12 months, thank god it won't be.

I reckon that hurt them. Losing like that. As you say it doesn't go along with the myth.

They won the series, I don't think they'll be hurt too much. Tiger is right, a lot of the cracks are being sandpapered over in this thread, and that win could have massive repercussions for next yr. Guys like Daley, Bozo and Jennings could keep their jobs because of that, and if they do, when the side for the first game next yr is selected when the emotion from this game is gone you might ask yourself if winning a dead rubber was worth it. So if anything they might have done QLD a favour by pulling that one out of the fire. I'd take that win as a major warning sign.

You're only as good as your last game…

If that's the case NSW will need a lopsided penalty count and a hundred tackles in the opposition 20 just to have a hope of winning the at death. If that exact same side gets picked next yr, minus Gallen, with the same coach, people will flip their lids.

QLD having been winning against us like that for years - We controlled possession and we were far more disciplined …... Isn't that how it goes.
They are a champion team we all know but you take your wins in SOO and you don't appologise for them - they certainly never have.

I notice that qld have never worried about all the lopsided penalty counts that qld got away with over the years. Funny that!!!

When you have 10,000 sets on qlds line and don't even look like scoring then qld get one or two cracks and cross the stripe, then have to rely on a freakish try in the dying minutes to pull it out of the fire in a dead rubber, don't get me wrong I was yahooing when Jennings crossed just as much as any NSW supporter but when you are dominating possession for that long and still end up behind on the scoreboard 2mins from full-time it's hard to feel like you've won. Take that last try away and if you're honest we'd all be laying the boot into NSW right now, calling for Daley's head and several players to be never considered for origin again. We were inept for the majority of the game.

Agree, the "attack" from the Blue was boring, one out, no 2nd phase, nothing creative at all.

All those sets on the Maroons line and nothing to show for it. Had bugger all to do with Queensland defence, we were just to inept.

Qld defended a massive possession imbalance really well, but to be honest they were miles off side all night when under the pump, and I guess they were willing to keep conceding penalties in order to frustrate NSW…....and it worked

Daley said he was already up the tunnel when NSW scored the match winner. How's that for a leader. How would that make you feel as a player, knowing the coach had basically already given up up while the game was still on the line. No wonder they didn't show the NSW box after the try. It was empty.

I've noticed that tactic more and more with the Cowboys. When under the pump they just keep standing offside and copping the penalties. The referees are too weak to bin anyone. Eventually the attacking side gets frustrated and turns the ball over. If it works stick to it I suppose.

Good to see Tedesco come through his first Origin, can only get better from here.
Bird , Frizzelle, and Graham will all be better from the experience. Would have rather seen Morris there instead of Jennings.
A lot more work needed, but we have finally got some players that can attack .

They could have been binned two or three times for that in that period that we were on their line, it was every tackle.they were lucky that they got away with it most of the time

How about Parker the grub. End of his career, has made all his money and with just three minutes left in origin, he has time for a cheap shot of Tedesco - a player with a full career ahead of him.

Imagine if he shattered Tedesco's jaw with that cheap forearm.

I've got to agree with Cronk's binning

Smith was warned on two previous occasions in regards to Cronk and NSW probably score if he doesn't hinder the chaser

You can blame one of your own for this Glen

A bloke came to Qld back in the 70's from St George by the name of Ross "Rat" Strudwick (Yes Strudwick Sports Ross Strudwick )

He mentored and coached Wally Lewis early in his career and explained many things along with how referees were human and could be manipulated in many situations

Wally Lewis was a master manipulator of refs and he has passed it on down the line

You blokes shot yourself in the foot on that one
