When you have 10,000 sets on qlds line and don't even look like scoring then qld get one or two cracks and cross the stripe, then have to rely on a freakish try in the dying minutes to pull it out of the fire in a dead rubber, don't get me wrong I was yahooing when Jennings crossed just as much as any NSW supporter but when you are dominating possession for that long and still end up behind on the scoreboard 2mins from full-time it's hard to feel like you've won. Take that last try away and if you're honest we'd all be laying the boot into NSW right now, calling for Daley's head and several players to be never considered for origin again. We were inept for the majority of the game.

Why watch footy if you can't enjoy your team winning on the bell?
Bloody hell. That was great.

Did you read the part where I said I was yahooing when Jennings scored?

I thought Qlder's were supposed to have some magical Origin gumption that never let them lose? What happened to that.
They had the lead with 3 minutes remaining, celebrated like they had the game won, their best ever player misses a kick that most park players would slot and then they let a hack like Jennings stomp over 4 or 5 of them to score the match winner. Whatever happened to doing it for Cozza? Myths are always meant to be shattered I guess.
If that was NSW that gave up the win after having the game in both hands then that s*** myth would have got repeated ad nauseum for the next 12 months, thank god it won't be.

I reckon that hurt them. Losing like that. As you say it doesn't go along with the myth.

haha what a crock.
Theres no magical gumption its just that they play the entire 80 more regularly than the blues. They showed that again last night after being pinned on their own line most of the game they still had the desire in a dead rubber to turn and chase a break made in the 78th minute with three of them running down Tedesco. The rest of them were there out wide to make the tackle on Jenko but his footwork in situations like that is up there with the best in the comp. You cant win them all.

Theres no way on earth that losing like that will hurt them. They know how it goes and the fact is they had an average series all up and came within a minute of a clean sweep. With 2 home games next year the pressure is on Daley after that attacking performance last night.

:roll
It gets under skin doesn't it.
Go read cammy's and thurstons little sook this morning and tell me they arnt hurting.

lol youve been waiting a long time to say that. If it makes you feel better then go ahead and believe it.

Not at all. I saw the boys holding the shield and they didnt look upset at all. Game 3 was just a 30k payday whilst picking up the shield again. Business as usual.

I wonder whether Fifita will face a suspension.

That was just a square up for Cronk getting binned. Yes he ran in, but he didnt chuck a punch. Definitly no suspension.

Fifita is facing a one-match ban after receiving a grade-one contrary conduct charge for an incident after Queensland debutant Gavin Cooper had scored the Maroons' second try of the night.

Really think the blues have alot of upside for the win…...as they played ordinary right thru out the series and only just went down. Missing key players also contributed to the team being clunky. We've unearthed some future stars in Tedesco Bird Moyland Graham and Frizzell and if we add the winning touches of Brett Morris Hayne and a controlling half like Hodkinson this blues team could turn around next year with not only being competive but win the series. Be also interesting if qld stick with this ageing team or whether they blood new players.
Winning the last game gives Daley a reprieve but hope he's learnt what didn't work in this series. Work on how the blues can become formidable in their own right......Here's hoping

The Blues need to identify the young guys they see playing SOO for the next 10 yrs, blood them and stick with them. It might cost them another series, but long term they will benefit. The old brigade i.e Farah, Jennings, Bird, Ferguson all should be thanked for their service and moved on. They need to get ahead of Qld, because once Thurston, Cronk and Smirh are gone, they'll be back to the blooding rookies game too.

Now that is harsh. 1 week for that, and 1 week for corey parkers dirty elbow, doesnt make sense.

Get rid of the old brigade and start new. Sacrifice next year with 2 games in Qld and build a team for the future. My SOO team for next year:

1.Tedesco
2\. Trbojevic
3\. Bird
4\. Roberts
5\. Mansour
6\. Maloney
7\. Reynolds
8\. Woods
9\. Peats
10.Klemmer
11\. Frizell
12\. Jackson
13\. Graham

14\. Cartwright
15\. Cordner
16\. Fifita
17\. Moylan

Why sacrifice anything, now that the younger players have got both some experience and confidence from this year, (it's easy to forget that the difference in game too, came down to a couple of millimetres) it could have been a different series winner.
The players are there now to beat this ageing team, provided that we don't go mad on newbies in one go
We just have to hope that we finally get a bit of luck with injuries, and we have most of them to start game 1 next year
I don't quite know, but I'm still not convinced about Moylan.( and it's nothing to do with the Teddy vs him for fullback. While not up to Teddys highest standard, he's answered that question already IMO.)
I just can't get enthusiastic about him, I've seen him go well in some panthers games, but they've been in wide open games. In the tight stuff such as Origin is, I can't see him being the answer.
I'd still prefer Jack Bird at 6

I can't believe James Roberts couldn't make the side when he was centre of the year last year…

Imagine that pace running at the old maroon forwards. I cant believe Ferguson was retained after game 1.

There are often a number of perspectives to a match. This is the Brisbane Courier Mail perspective;

State of Origin Game 3: Maroons fall agonisingly short of series clean sweep after 18-14 loss to NSW
Peter Badel, The Courier-Mail
July 13, 2016 11:23pm

WHAT a farce.

Queensland’s hopes of a clean sweep were cruelled by another awful video decision that has turned the NRL bunker into a $2 million lottery.

The basket-case Blues conjured a great escape at ANZ Stadium, centre Michael Jennings crossing with 78 seconds to spare to avert a 3-0 series rout with a pulsating 18-14 victory.

INCREDIBLE EFFORT: Why the Maroons were the real winners

But the Maroons were ruing a series of disgraceful officiating decisions that marred their quest for their first clean sweep since Mal Meninga’s marauders in 2010\. The NRL bunker controversially awarded a 42nd minute try to NSW prop Andrew Fifita to give the Blues a crucial 12-4 lead before Greg Inglis was bizarrely penalised for allegedly shoulder charging Josh Dugan. This wasn’t a classic Queensland display. With the series safe, they were flat at times, but they weren’t aided by an NRL bunker process that has become a blight on the code.

After the break, Queensland had to overcome not only NSW, but the lottery that is the NRL bunker.
The Maroons were entitled to feel dudded in the 42nd minute when Fifita scored after winning the race to a kick. When Inglis was penalised for a 49th-minute shoulder charge on Dugan that looked as menacing as a mouse, it was evidence the match officials had lost the plot.

The bunker's an embarrassment. It's hard to put into words how inept it is when in theory it should be an asset.
Last night QLD suffered it's incompetence but to be fair it happens in almost every game. It doesn't discriminate.

100% agree in all of your posts on this thread Stryker. Don't worry, let NSW have their little moment. Qld were still the better side last night. With 2 games at Suncorp next year the Blues will need more than they offered last night to get anywhere near QLD. Remember QLD have some very good young talent coming through also. Homes, Napa etc.

So we've got NSW players whinging that Qld players were sledging them all game about losing the series and being big meanies to Gallen and ribbing him about his rubbish Origin record. Then Qld are whinging at a lack of respect when NSW players don't hang around for Qld accepting the shield.

Is there a testicle between this bunch? Fair dinkum, all of the feelings. Origin has turned into an awkward family dinner where feuding cousins are at opposite ends of the table being passively aggressive to each other. This is embarrassing.
