Origin 2023

I just think it’s quite funny that our halfback is always to blame for our clunky attack but when it happens to NSW it’s not the halfback. He never seems to be able to get his team up when the stakes are highest.

But doesnt that make you as bad as the idiots who judge Brooks so unfairly? Your doing the same thing you hate. You won't find many post from me bagging Brooks like others. Maybe a few in the first few rounds, but over the years I've been reasonable in assessing Luke and been a supporter of his.

Moses put some good kicks in but no NSW players were chasing.

It's like he was trying to do something but the team mates ignored him.
Exactly what would of happened if he had of come back here.

May as well just stick with Wakeham, many of his kicks are well directed, if anything, they could use a bit more hang time, but it makes little difference if there is no kick chase or the players have no idea of what is going on.

Wakeham's short drop outs are generally fairly well directed but our competition for them and our ability to defuse bombs is nothing short of pathetic.

Are our players completely devoid of the physical attributes and ability to compete in this area or is this a complete failure on the part of our coaching staff.

Incidentally, when it is so obvious that we are a failure at competing on these short drop outs, why do do we continue to go there, once again, are the players that dumb or is this a failure of the coaching staff to get the message out there.

Wests Tigers and Blues have got a long way to go before they get back to being successful teams.

34 year old DCE running further and faster than Crichton to bring him down in a try saver while no NSW support player was within cooee seemed to sum up last night's game.

Queensland care more and execute better.
I doubt game 3 will be much different.
You neglected to mention that there were at least half a dozen other maroons chasing Crichton even though they had no chance of catching him and most of them were closer than the nearest Blues support player.

Effort and Attitude play a big part in a winning team.

Queensland’s effort in defence was amazing. The horrible refereeing performance only added to the outcome. Every second tackle they were allowed a flop or second effort. That’s how you stop Teddy.
Agree about the terrible reffing, but I don't think Qld's defence was nearly as special as everyone's saying. I felt like I was watching a WT game, with my team repeatedly in the opposition's 20, doing one crappy non-threatening play after another, while announcers say how brave the defence is.

NSW's attack didn't throw enough at Qld for their defence to be praised. Teddy and Addo are no longer dangerous at this level. Moses and Luai might be one day, but not yet. Was Moses injured in the second half? I forgot he was playing for a while.

Thanks to the strategies of Slater and Smith, they have mastered "Origin rules" - playing offside without being pinged.

Also, if Murray's groin prevented him from playing centre, then he shouldn't have been picked. Between injuries, bad player chemistry and organisation and Klein's usual major errors, Qld had it too easy.

If all fit, then yes.
But Edwards is a better 1 than Mitchell.
1 Edwards
2. To'o
3. Mitchell
4. Staggs
5. Graham
I'd rather Creighton to Staggs. Staggs has a low work rate but does brillant plays. So does Latrell. You need a worker next to Latrell to complement his style so I'd go Creighton. Otherwise, that's the way I'd go.

Halves Moses and Hynes. Reyno is great but Tino and co would probably damage him.

Have to disagree, when you can make that many superstars look pedestrian you have defended bloody well. QLD just keep showing up for each other. One play in particular where Luai got smashed and dropped the ball late in the first half was a key moment. They definitely bent the rules but that’s just gamesmanship and the ref allowed it. You’re only as good as your opponent allows you to play.
NSW were pedestrian, though. Look a the backline movements, not just this game but any series where Latrell and Tommy weren't dominating. I'd rather watch the Cronulla or Titans backlines.

The NSW backkline never looks as organised as Qld's. Even in games we won against Kevvie, the Qld backs had better shape, just that they didn't have the strike individuals that we had. I'd like to see Qld do it against a team that can match it with them in the forwards and hit them with sharp backline movements and hard-to-read trick shots.

You're right. To'o went after him for a while but gave it up. That play said a lot about attitude right there.

Why does the next coach have to be a T.V. celebrity?
It's all we hear Gallen, Joey or Matty. Why can't the next coach be an actual coach, in touch with how the game is played now, who knows how to select a winning team.
There's a heap of assistant coaches who'd have much more of an idea than dumbarse Fittler. Blokes like Kristian Wolfe, Jason Ryles, Dean Young etc.
Unfortunately Origin's just a T.V. show now so the coach has to have star power not coaching ability.

I probably would have picked Reynolds, Walker and the serial killer from South’s to try and get those combinations in the backs flowing to be honest so I agree to an extent. Still think Teddy is one of the better players in the sport and they did a number on him. Luai and Moses had poor games.
True, but Cody was hurt and Reyno gets injured pretty easily.

Teddy used to be a game breaker but now he's just pretty solid, and he's being caught out of position these days, which didn't happen much in his prime.

Like Hynes, I think Edwards has earned his chance by being the best NRL FB over the last couple of years. Agree that Luai doesn't offer much. I thought Moses was good in the first half but our kick chase wasn't there. He was invisible in the second half, though.

I wouldn't complain if they picked Hynes and Burton as halves next game. Moses and Hynes might work too, if Moses can stay focused for the whole game.

I think you’ll see Teddy bounce back to his best for the Roosters, just my opinion.

I think the 3rd game is nearly a write-off, who knows what Freddy experiments with.
Teddy played well before last Origin too. He can still exploit rookies and journeymen in the NRL but Origin teams don't have those weaknesses.

Crichton is DCE's [This word has been automatically removed] now

5-A Johnston
6-N.Hynes
7-M.Moses

Interim coaches D Hasler, G Toovey

I get it’s a massive overhaul but we need changes.

People dropping Teddy for Origin 3 are wrong. Whatever the case about his form, he deserved to get this series. He's been a great player for NSW for a long time. Clearly, he's not the same player he was, and I'd say it's an open competition for fullback next year, but I don't think you disrespect a captain like that. He deserves a shot at redeeming the series a little.

People have short memories.

NSWRL should experiment with another coach for game 3.
But given Fittler will be coach, he should make sweeping changes to his failed team.
See what I posted earlier

Teddy has played his best football all downhill from here he will have a solid 24 and 25 will be interesting to see what Trent does Joey is a better 1 now
