Origin 2023

Time to pick players on form... Something like this would be good:

1. Latrell
2. Addo-Carr
3. Graham
4. Turbo
5. To'o
6. Cleary
7. Hynes
8. Haas
9. Api
10. Jurbo
11. Olokuatu
12. Martin
13. Yeo

14. Burton
15. Stefano
16. Murray
17. Paulo
1. Edwards
2. Fox
3. Graham
4. Latrell
5. To'o
6. Cody Walker
7. Hynes
8. Haas
9. Api
10. Paulo
11. Frizzell
12. Martin
13. Murray

14. Burton
15. Klemmer/Saifiti/Stefano
16. Olakuatu
17. Yeo

All made sense JT until you said drop Hynes,
Based on a very short window ? Seems a little unfair and he can cover just as many positions as Burton.
Agree...

I'd be giving Hynes the 6 jersey,
Playing Burton at centre.
Latrell at 1 if he's ready.

Bit more dynamic.
But hey, I'm a Queenslander

Latrell is the best centre in Rugby league and Dylan Edwards is the best fullback in league. They should be playing those positions
It'd benefit the team, no doubt.

I'm just not sure Edward's will fit into the origin system.

The Penrith guys are predictable and even though it had its moments, it wasn't good enough...

It felt like they only wanted to pass to Panther team mates.

I'd have Edwards there but not Luai or Cleary. They've failed too often. Hynes and Cody Walker

Cleary will be there- no better half in the comp and Luai in my opinion played well but cops plenty for being disliked. DCE and Munster also had few opportunities it wasn't that type of game.
QLD defended better as unit and they had speed out wide that we couldn't handle when it counted..
Teddy had his worst game at rep level but doubt that he will be dropped.
Missed the work ethic/ load of Jake T who does all the dirty stuff that never gets noticed till it's not there

Except he can't; not without some quick education - we saw how diabolical he was at centre!

Tedesco most likely gets game 2 and if no better gets dropped for game 3

They won't drop Teddy not a chance but he should be getting a tap on the shoulder, go out on "his terms"
100% should be turfing Fittler he's a gronk that doesnt have a clue what the hell he's doing.

No. Im saying NSW had the more fancied backline
But you used cap numbers to back that statement up? Experience is important up to a point.

I’m saying that an old worn out and out of form teddy, broken down turbo out of position and missing our best centre option was never going to be as good as qlds backline.

QLD probably takes Origin more seriously because they don't have much else up there.

In all seriousness though, this word gets thrown around a lot but it's more to do with "culture". Slater, Smith and JT get Origin, Fittler doesn't. He played 20 years ago now and the game has moved past him.

Slater and Smith are probably two of the smartest and most hard working people in Rugby League with extremely good work values. We thought we were done being haunted by them but they will linger on.

There's no magic in the QLD jersey, but these two make the dumb QLD players believe there is ans that's the difference.

Our players for the last 20 years have been glory seekers and Fittler has enabled them even more in last 5.
I think that it's tall poppies syndrome. Wanting to cut NSW down to size provides a lot of extra motivation for QLD.

…and I’m saying what’s the point of saying this after the game has been played? This was not the narrative leading into it.

I was saying it before the game…I would have posted it here too if it weren’t for the website problems lol.

What’s the point on banging on the narrative that qld were an inferior side? That’s just bs. They weren’t. The coaching, selections, camp, injuries, spine and backline were superior. NSW have a lot to worry about moving forward.

With that attitude they do…
Mate NSW were favourites, they dominated possession and field position. They will be favourites in Brissie as well.

Agree they did dominate. I read an earlier post regarding the cheap errors that qld gifted NSW possession? I agree with that too.

What ever my attitude is has no bearing on how NSW conducts itself. Or what the bookies think.

Back to my original point, you still haven’t given me a reason why you think NSW backline is better other than number of caps?

Would have been a great option for Hasler to have been the Queensland coach.

After the disgraceful refereeing and dodgy decisions by Klown and the bunker he would be calling for multiple investigations.

Hasler? I thought it was Toovey that was famous for demanding there be an “investigation”
