Origin III* Live thread

Boyd is a solid worker who runs really good lines.
Graham is your creative backrower that plays the fringe with impact.
My issue with it all is.
Both Boyd and FriZel were injured for part of game 2 yet Boyd was moved to the right to cover for FriZel and Jackson replaced jake T to play out the game in the middle.
Why in gods name did they not move Jackson back to his natural position and leave Jake T out there he plays 80 mins at lock every week.

Something that i feel needs to be said that few have mentioned concerns Boyd Cordner.
I think he was poor game 2 and just terrible tonight. Has the captaincy negatively affected his game? On form he doesnt make my side.

Yes he was poor after game one….think he needs 2 front rowers running the ball with a bit more vigour to get the team on the front foot more.

It was clear he was off the pace from the start of the game. Just another one of Loz's dud decisions.

People will claim he was injured but the NSW coaching staff definitively declared him 100%. I like him as a player but geeze he looks to be struggling with the captains role. Maybe he'll bounce back next year.

I think Barrett will probably be the next NSW coach. Do you really need a dedicated yearly coach, has it really worked for NSW since they adopted that model?

NSW don't need Gould . He has turned into a fence sitting Nancy boy .
You don't need to be a good coach these days , they surround themselves with other guys for that.
NSW needs someone who really hates the stinking toads to push some buttons.

Look how Johns talks. You need more like him. Shame he wont have a go at it.

Maybe Blocker.
Sterling didn't help by getting Daley to pick his choices.

I don't think it's the captaincy, his form has been down all year and he was clearly playing injured tonight. The braver decision as captain would have been to not play given he must have known he was well off being 100%.

Oh well it must be so then because the NSW coaching are clearly: a) Boyd Cordner himself; b) medically qualified; and c) telling the truth and not just saying that to not expose a weakness. Definitively :unamused:

We have lost games before when I thought we were hard done by but no excuses this time, they are just too good. The worry is you think their run is nearly over and then along comes Munster!

Their medical staff told them you drooling idiot.

Sterling on the radio before the game. Mentioned that Boyd has tested his calf but they can't garentee that he will be 100%.

Watching delayed.
Just catching up on Joey and Gus's comments now.
Joey/Gus spelled it out perfectly. When the player in the team thinks his job his done they clock off. Case in point when Wallace scored past lazy Woods/ Fifita.
I was watching highlights of Joey Johns in origin and especially the games in 2005 when he came in late to win the series. Origin wasn't won in those games by set plays the tries the nsw team scored in 2005 were on the back of Joey being involved in more than one touch of the same play. I am shocked that when NSW had a set on QlDs line that they did not test out Morgan and Munsters and Holmes defence. Not ONCE!

He looked to have been limping basically right up until game day there is no way he was 100%.

I shitted on Slater for his performance previously this series but he was huge tonight he was involved in everything. He is on another level to Teddy. He showed that tonight.

Woods is a plodder at this level .

by origin standards he has had a poor game

He's had a lot better that's for sure, but then so have most of the team. Qld's outside backs have made their opposites look second rate!

It is an absolute lie from NSW journos and commentators that Woods plays well in origin. He is usually the least effective on the field. I have never heard a QLD forward say we have to stop him. He just doesnt matter.

He put his stamp on the game a few years back, but has been all downhill since then. Only had one good stint out of six on the field this series, though he has not long come back on the field on the replay I am watching, still looking disinterested.

…all they can say is what they see in scans and the results of any physical tests, it doesn't actually tell them whether he's just pushing through because he wants to play. The best indicator was to watch how he handled the origin intensity. He didn't handle it. He didn't perform as well as he has in the past and he didn't put in anywhere near the effort he has in the past. He wasn't 100%.

Been saying it all along. Billy taught Ted a lesson earlier this year in clubland and again tonight. Ted comparing himself to Slater is an insult.

Ok so it was either his selfishness or poor leadership that let him play….
I personally think he was fit and just thoroughly outplayed in games 2 and 3 by our backrow who were a major cog in this series win.

Is it just me or did the Blues seem to not have a game plan tonight? They looked lost in attack even the inside ball to Teddy which they had scored off previously was telegraphed. Not taking away from QLD's win they were too good but NSW were terrible in such a big game. I can understand Joey's disgust it's not good enough.

Once again QLD proved it means more to them. They came out with a smart game plan with Smith running early and exposing our marker defense. It was over by half time no matter the score, as our halves were unable to match the skill of theirs. Well done to QLD.

Yes he is miles behind him too. Someone during the week claimed him to be the best fullback in the world…on 2017 form he should not have even been in the NSW team. Dugan was the correct choice.

Teddy hasn't been that great this year but turn it up he's not miles behind Boyd. It's not hard to look good behind the Bronco's pack.
