Other results and home finals

We can't make the top 4 this year so time to start thinking where we can finish. With the injury to Thurston and IF our form can improve, 5th is our best position and is certainly not impossible.

What needs to happen this weekend? Preferred winner in **bold**

Dogs v **Parra**
**Storm** v Broncos
**Titans** v Cowgirls
**Wests** v Rorters
**Sharks** v Knights
**Souths** v NZ
Penrith v **Manly**

One final observation. The new home finals system actually favours Wests. Manly and St. George cannot play at Brookvale and Kogarah/Wollongong. They will be forced to play at the SFS or Homebush.

Don't know if any alse heard this but Thurston is now out for a further 6 weeks according to the news today Cowboys will really struggle as seen with last weekends performance

I quickly did the table predictor and we can finish 5-6th but need to win a lot. It will depend on other results of course but if we lose to Manly and St George we pretty much have to win the rest.

It could be an interesting last round against the Sharks if they go okay too…

Cowboys may miss the 8… if they cant win without thurston, they'll be stranded on 26 points

They beat Newcastle last week! They did score 4 tries against us. They will struggle but if some team doesn't aim up, they might get a few more wins.

The other problem the Cowboys have is Matt Scott He will be a week to week proposition due to his back injury according to Sunday Mail That makes a huge difference to them also

Newcastle were very ordinary against the Cowboys, and we let in two soft tries. (the tonga intercept, and pattersons barge over with a couple on the clock)

I don't rate them without Thurston - don't get me wrong - Bowen is gold, but he can also have some real clangers. Matt Scott is a big loss too, however both the Sims boys hide that loss somewhat.

However they have a new half this week, lets see how he runs.

Also with no Michael Ennis, you can pretty much write the Bulldogs out of the finals as well IMO. He doesn't seem to do a huge deal for them, but they play better when he is there.

They have got nothing right now.

What has actually happened to Ennis? I don't think I've seen anything on the injury at all? I thought the Terrorgraph would have been on it as they seem to be his media outlet…

Cowboys might just scrape into the 8 IMO.

They showed alot of guts against the Junkies without Thurston (despite Newcastle playing poorly,) and they will still be able to rattle a few teams (excepting the top four,) with their forward pack intact, particularly Scott who leads from the front.

If Scott played the other night, I believe it would have been a completely different game.

He has a neck injury and is having surgery this week.

you are correct there CB, in theory if 28 is going to be the magic cutoff this year, they need one more win, and they have a pretty healthy points differential - however with the results being as skewed as they have been, 26-27 may also be enough.

i cant see any of the teams from 6th down catching the cowboys at 6th who have 2-3 wins ahead of them. The cowboys will still be good enough to win 2 or so games which will get them to 30.

Personally at this stage and the way we are playing id take 8th. Id be stoked with 6th as I see that giving you another week as I dont see whoever finishes top two getting knocked off

The Terror would rather people didn't know Ennis was capable of being injured. "Made for Origin" players don't get hurt…

the Cowboys will beat the Titans
the Titans are a sorry excuse for a football team this yr (which makes the fact they beat the tigers even harder to swallow)

Being the eternal optimist, I would have to disagree.

While I consider it highly unlikely, if we won seven in a row we would finish on 34 points and in with a shot at 4th spot, most likely on for and against. More realistic, is that we have a shot at 5th or 6th if the cowboys get the wabbles and we can keep winning. 7th or 8th are the most likely though. the next two weeks will be telling.

The broncos and 4th spot could easily be in play, not necessarily for the Tigers, but if they lose to the storm this weekend, it's game on. The Warriors could quite conceivably beat the rabbits and then canberra, setting up a huge game against the Broncos in 3 weeks time.

i think the cowboys will still finish 5th considering that these are their remaining games:
titans (a)
panthers (h)
bulldogs (a)
broncos (h)
souths (a)
sharks (h)
warriors (a)
thats a pretty easy run home seeing as they dont have to play dragons, manly or storm.
so i think the best we can hope for is 6th, and assuming storm get the minor premiership, we'd most likely play either manly or dragons at the sfs or homebush

whys that? is it for the crowds/money??

Penrith and Newcastle both on 26 with for and against for 8th or 9th! Melbourne 44, manly 42, saints 41, broncos 40, nz 28, wests 28, nq 28, pen or new 26, that's my predictions from a mug tipster!

In short, yes.

Venues are now at the discretion of the NRL. If Manly was to play Wests, the game would be at the SFS. If they were to play a team such as NZ or North Qld, they may be able to play at Brookvale.
