Our Attack

Why do our Players

Play the Ball SOOOOOO Slowly???

This is killing what little momentum we have in attack

This needs to be fixed as Priority 1
Gildart and Garner are 15kg lighter than their position requires. And they play scared. They’re not alone.

I've probably got the extra 15kg each if they want it.

I am also scared and I'm only watching.
Me too mate. I couldn’t do what they do but I’m not getting paid more than the prime minister either. With the rewards comes the scrutiny.

The stats of his tenure at Souths says it all.

In 2015 under Maguire, even with quality cattle, their attack was 8th best, with negative PD.

In 2016 under Maguire their attack was the 11th best. The team included Inglis, Nathan Brown, four Burgi, Angus Creighton, Luke Keary, Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker.

In 2017 under Maguire their attack was again 11th - and with a team including Inglis, three Burgi, Damien Cook, Creighton, Doueihi, Gagai, Campbell Graham, Reynolds, Sutton and Cody!

In 2018 under Siebold, their attack was easily the best in the comp. And with a similar team.

That should make clear where the problem lies. We could do worse than saying goodbye to Madge and bringing in Flanno and son IMO.

Under Siebold, they had this attacking structure where the 2nd man would catch the ball on the inside shoulder, run straight at the line (not around his own player) then pass the ball. A blatant obstruction in my books because the outside men don't get a clean shot at the playmaker.

If any of you watched the game against the Sharks, you would have noticed on many occasions when the WTs were defending, they were back peddling instead of moving up with speed....sign of lack of skill and confidence....
In the attack the players were so flat that the passes on a couple of occasions were deemed forward or the ball ended up behind them..should have been standing deeper and running on to the ball....sign of lack of skill and confidence...
And before you blame the coach, its up to the players to know how to run onto the ball and therein lies the problem of poor play maker ability to set the team up for an attacking raid...if you back peddle in defence all you do is give the opposition momentum and ground....
Simple really if you have footy smarts and intestinal fortitude to have a fair dinkum go when out on the playing field....

Brooks worst defensive quality has become his lack of ability to square up in ‘D’. Used to be his strength. I agree with @TrueTiger

In 2020 when the comp restarted after the first covid lockdowns, there were no crowds and the effect mics were quite high. It was scary hearing the sound of the hits.
A bit like all the grunting and carry on at the tennis.

As far as the hits in the NRL go I sometimes wonder how they get back up off the ground.

Gagai didn’t start with the Rabbitohs until 2018.

Attack….firstly you need a standout 9, he is the one who delivers the pass to your playmaker, than you need a standout 6 or 7 who puts on the play, than you need quality athletes who have speed and power. A quality no1 with speed is a bonus.

At present we lack most of the above..if not all

That's why they call you the 'Supercoach' 👍
Mate we lack quality players right across the field.
We are deperate at the moment.
A Nikora or Tapine or someone who is young and a real gun would be just what the doctor ordered.
I just pray that we don't throw our hands up and give in by signing another busted retirement seeking player and send us further into oblivion.

So right, don’t kill the cap on a player who is on the slide, busted or doesn’t suit our needs
