I have been thinking about our bench rotation.

Really between teams, 1-13 is pretty settled and people play the same roles.

Some teams ride with 4 forwards/second row. some teams ride with 2 props in reserve.

What do people think works for us and the team we have?

It depends who is on the field - the most important can one of your backrowers seemlessly move into the outside backs to cover an injury/concussion. IMO that quality is one of the most important in the NRL. Its why I see Jack Bird as a lock being really valuable because you can easily move him out to 5/8, centre and moving others further out to cover wing, fullback or in to cover HB if an injury occurs. If that happens then you can happily play 3 forwards and a hooker back up or even 4 forwards if API plays 80 although the issue with 4 forward benches is the 3rd and 4th one usually end up with say 10 minutes each if no injuires hit and mayby the 4th doesen't play at all.

I agree...
Luke Garner played a grand final as a centre.
Kurt Capewell has played Origins in the centre position.

I think we need an interior designer to answer that question

Seriously though 3 forwards and TDS for most games

We should use a horses for courses approach.
Put some actual thought into it rather than the same every week, regardless of results.
If we were more structured, sure.

At the moment I feel it's our momentum were trying to get together.

Look what you are saying is cleaver and smart at the right point in time. I want us to win some games first and have momentum to build up from. Then we can tweak from week to week.

Latu Fainu has to be in the 14 every week he isn't starting if Luai or Galvin aren't available. Latu can cover the halves, hooker and play the lock/link role that Watson etc have played. TDS on the bench completely destroys any ability for flexibility

I have no issue with Latu being on the bench as think he is an outstanding talent perhaps even better then Galvin long term at 5/8 but TDS still allows you to cover halves by moving Api into the halves and Bird at lock allows you to cover the backs for any other injury so both work imo and TDS at this stage provides more at hooker but I'm happy for them to fight it out.

2 props a fare dinkum Master Bateman(2nd rw who wants 2b there n a Mason

No halves especially 7’s on the bench. Forwards and a utility that can play 9, or a 9 that can cover the backs.

LOL and Galvin didnt?...and still doesnt?
TDS is ready now. We need 45-50 a week from Api at most.

Yeah, I note your posts about us flogging him, him
gassing out & missing tackles etc. I'm of the same
opinion..He'll most likely still be starting in cup though

Edit: by he I meant TDS. He needs time yet still

...and what about the suggestion that TDS must complete an apprenticeship when Galvin, Fainu's, Miller, Laulilii etc arent required to?

14) Utility of kind, probably Latu Fainu. Ability to cover 9, halves, centre, lock, backrow. It's essential we give Api a break so I wouldn't be opposed to this being a bench hooker, Tallyn Da Silva.

15) Prop, to cover the prop rotation. Impact prop preferable. Royce Hunt is the guy.

16) Prop, to cover the prop rotation. Not opposed to this being another impact prop in the likes of Fonua Pole.

17) Utility forward - these options come down to how and who starts in the 13. This position is for a forward who can play backrow, front row and lock. Alex Seyfarth or Sione Fainu.

every 1 happy with 4 forwards on the bench,2 possibes playing centre,,no TDS o Mason doing a 20 minute cameo, until we in the top 6

I think if Latu isnt our starting halfback, which it doesnt seem will be the case at all, then he is the one to serve an apprenticeship in Flegg or KOE.

We need long term planning here and I suggest he will be our long term halfback starting as early as mid to late 2026. Galvins days as a 6 are numbered and Luai will be far more effective wider of the ruck which is where he also does his best work.

I wouldnt waste Latu's time making him ride the pine for 8 minutes per week. Let him run a team as a 7 every week.
