Our game plan sux!!

I'm no coach but have watched the game all my life so think I no a little about it.

A few points I would like to make about our game plan.

1\. We have so structure or communication in our long kicking game. It looks like if theirs no options we hoof it down field. The kicker needs to tell the team when the kicks on so we chase in 1 line. ATM the kicker is not communicating the kick is on and we have 2 or 3 chasers only and teams are regularly starting their sets from the 20 to 30 meter zone and ending their sets in good field position.
2\. We need to attack in numbers up the middle. At the moment we pass 1 or 2 wide and have a forward hit it up or try a short side to often. Too predictable to defend and we are rarely making 10 meters a tackle. (see first set after 1st try last night)
3\. When attacking in our 20 we are (benji in particular) playing to latterly. Teams know if they slide in defence they can defend it.
4\. Offloads are rare when attacking. With a decent size forward pack why are we not offloading and creating second phase play!! Seems as soon as contact is made, support players drop off and we are setting up for the next play. So many times I've seen Galloway or Woods attract 2 or 3 players, look for an offload and Farah is turned around looking to set up the next play or players have given up on the play.
4\. Finally, when defending, get off the player once the tackle is made. Stop pretending your arms caught up so u look at the ref for sympathy (see Ashford about every time he makes a tackle). Understand we are trying to slow it down, but the penalties are costing us.

We need to do something in these areas to challenge the 7 teams above us who are all doing it better than us.

Support players should be ready for a kick chase at all times, particulalry in our own end, the only time communication is crucial is when attacking kicks are put in at the oppositions red zone, most other times the support line if generally flat so can chase at a given moment

2\. We need to attack in numbers up the middle. At the moment we pass 1 or 2 wide and have a forward hit it up or try a short side to often. Too predictable to defend and we are rarely making 10 meters a tackle. (see first set after 1st try last night)

I think we do this to bring the D line in even more compact, so we can then spread it wide hopefully finding holes

3\. When attacking in our 20 we are (benji in particular) playing to latterly. Teams know if they slide in defence they can defend it.

You said it above, wed get dominated, we go one out….not the place to be doing this, plus our kicking game is miserable and the coach has done nothing to address this for years

4\. Offloads are rare when attacking. With a decent size forward pack why are we not offloading and creating second phase play!! I think we tried this earlier in the season, our completion rate suffered as we are simply not good at it

4\. Finally, when defending, get off the player once the tackle is made. Stop pretending your arms caught up so u look at the ref for sympathy (see Ashford about every time he makes a tackle). Understand we are trying to slow it down, but the penalties are costing us.

All teams do it we must too....otherwise the opposition would be downfield in a flash

Yep

1 Our kicking game isn't good enough to start with and doesn't give our chasing team time to get down and put pressure on the wingers and fullback and is usually teh reason we aren't in a straight line You still need some depth just in case their is a chance you can run it and then put a kick on the end of it and gain more ground

2 We don't have enough decoy runners particularly later in the game and we get pummelled and need to play either side of the ruck and not be predictable

3 I don't have an issue if we attack in our own twenty , but I would rather create in through numbers and passing through the hands ,instead of throwing a thirty metre cut out pass

4 We lack a fullback that is interested in creating second phase which will help us with creating more attacking opportunities Tedesco is the answer to that , but we will have to wait until 2013

5 Ink is right We must get more dominate tackles which then creates its own time rather than try and hold down the defender I think having seen us using the wrestle and defensive line speed , when we are on defensively we are far more effective using line speed Just my opinion though The wrestle can be more effective but we don't seem to handle it well and give away far too many penalties

i would disagree with that, we tried it when humble was at fullback, when woods wasn't as proficient as offloading than he is now.. blair is starting to turn around in tackles and pop an offload, so is heighno sometimes.. what we lack is a bloody fullback who supports.
that said, i agree with OP in that farah is never looking to support either, he is too busy organising the next play, can't really blame him for that though.. SOMEONE has to organise..
