Our Season over?

Weve just gone through almost 100 minutes of extremely intense finals football and had it all end with a devestating Roosters try. We now have injury concerns for so many of our most key players and Benji is not looking likely to play. On top of that youd have to think our players would have nothing left for next week..
On the other hand Canberra are flying high and after tonight completed the longest winning streak of the year. We have to go and play at the hardest stadium to play at away in all of the NRL while they have plenty of momentum.

How do you think our chances look, can we win?

Of course they can win…

It's St Choke that has me worried....

Sort of reminds me of last year when we had that heart breaking loss to the Eels when the tank went down, then we had the game against the doggies with nothing to play for, players missing and we blew them off the park. I think if we get through this week and play without a care in the world we will beat the raiders.. no pressure on us all on them. I think Benji should try the hyperberic chamber.

Penrith's defence was appalling tonight!

They still stretched the Raiders - and I believe we can beat them the old-fashioned way if Marshall is out as expected (especially if Ellis & Fulton can give us a good 40-50 odd minutes each).

Fifita & Murdoch-Masila have alot of responsibility ahead of them - but having said that - if Ellis or Fulton are out - I'd opt for Jason Schirnack without a shadow of a doubt. He is not a big man - but he is a great natural footballer and a skillful/aggressive natural back-rower!!!

Let's see what are our chances? on the face of it tonight- not good. WTs have been hit badly by injuries and we know successful finals teams are those with few injuries to key players, WTs just played a very exhausting 100 minutes of football- they were on a high to start the game but now would be felling gutted and could be flat next week.
It looks like they will be playing a team with few injuries and plenty of momentum and will have to play them in Canberra, could it get any worse, perhaps, if Manly win tomorrow and that is the end of our season. Yes, on the face of it we've just about hit the end of the road. So the towel can be thrown in now and make up the numbers if we make it to next week (depending on manly) BUT WT's won't do that they will give it their best shot, this will be a real challenge for Sheens because he will have to take a weakened team into a sudden death match looking for a win. Yes, on the face of it , it doesn't look good but on the positive side the coaching staff and those who do take the field won't die wondering, who knows anything can happen in rugby league and there are still a number of quality players fit to play.

Wayne Bennetts win/loss record for the finals in the past decade is not too hot. Since 2001 his teams have won 6 games and lost a whopping 13.

i think geo meant he is worried st.choke will choke today against manly

It'll be a hard game, hopefully there wont be any suspensions on top of injuries…....

WE CAN DO IT THOUGH......

Does Ellis have any carry-over points?

I seem to recall he may have had a low-grade charge in the past but….. alcohol & ...

I guess your overlooking that he hasn't missed a finals series, or the fact he has won a premiership in that period….

I don't think we have much of a chance, likewise with the Roosters. Both teams are going to struggle for the rest of the finals series, you surely cannot play your best footy after enduring an extra 20 minutes in a fast-paced, high-quality game.

It'd be interesting to see how we'd play without Benji, it would certainly be a different performance, probably not a bad one though. We have learnt to win without him in the past, and Lui really stepped up tonight so I'm thinking we could at least put in a performance against the Raiders. Whether we can win...

I think we can get it going against the Raiders next week.

Just goes to show that some of those refereeing decisions took our season from a weekend off with another home final to on the edge of oblivion.

Someone needs to explain to me still:
1) How you disallow the Ellis try because two players have a push and shove and your player is NOT the instigator?
2) How a prop ends up on a ball from a scrum win supposedly against the feed?
3) How the same roosters player can continually push and shove and punch in tackles from the marker position yet nothing is done?

Oh look, I could write several more by why bother?

I believe in this side. We can get 17 fit bodies to Canberra next week and win!!!

We have great juniors as Ben Murdoch-Malsla showed again tonight. Injuries will be the only concern, don't think any player will be charged.

Bring on the Raiders the boys will be sore no doubt but the up side is battle hardening this is what the Bulldogs did so well in the 80's they got stronger after each game ..it's all in the head if we can get Benji on the field we will beat the Raiders I have seen enough over the last month to believe this!!!!!!

No…were gone..100minutes they will be mentaly zapped by that last night...sorry boys I call it as I see it.....still walking around asking how in 2010 you lose a scrum

Yes, well, Easts are probably still rejoicing that they were not asked to play at the 'hardest stadium in the NRL' last night and as you suggest we will be required to do so next weekend. There's some logic buried in there somewhere, perhaps someone could e mail Concord and ask?

Hmmm…i think the logic was play in front of 28000 Wests Tigers fans and 5369 Rorter one's....If you were at the Wests SFS and claim that the Roosters had home crowd advantage well you must have sat in the wrong 3 bays...

The atmosphere last night far outstripped anything Leichhardt or Campbelltown had to offer...

If you are good enough you will win on any stage...to say Leichhardt or Cambo would have proved the difference is laughable...

No way (but fingers crossed for today) I need to wear my new Wests Tigers Finals T shirt one more time at least 😛ray:

agree 100%
if marshall plays i think we can beat them

penrith had waterhouse and pritchard missing for 65 minutes of that game (2 man bench for 65minutes in a finals game) and lost because gordon hit the upright..we played better then canberra did last night against a tougher oppnonent and in a much more intense game and with less on the line

if marshall plays we can win…if not i doubt we can
hopefully we get ellis on the field too 😛ray:

Absolutely Geo…i've said this all along. Leichardt and Cambo are good but have NOTHING on the atmosphere we had last night....nothing.
