Folkes is the most likely to replace Tim but does that mean a return to old school structured bash and barge style Rugby League. We don't want to go backwards and most fans like the style of play we currently have.

Would hate to see Folkes come in and stymie all the good work thats gone in.

having spoken to a few board members about this very issue over the last 12 months, they have all said that Gentel would be the most likely successor

peter gentle is obviously a good coach, but will he have the ability to attract players eg blair to the club ? not too sure. the tigers need a ' name ' coach with proven success to keep the supporters and sponsors on side.

I unlike most on here want Brown,he is a damn good coach,he just shouldn't have coached Saints when he did,he has taken the Giants from bottom to top of the table,he is young and understands todays game.
And another thing,he would have no trouble attracting players to the club,from either side of the world,I say see ya Tim,hello Brownie.

I wouldn't be upset if they signed Brown, from all reports he's a good coach who was in a bad position at the Dragons.

I wish the Tigers had signed him to be Sheens' assistant when he was fired from the Dragons so he could be groomed to take over when Sheen eventually left. But obviously with Huddersfield offering him a head coaching role that wasn't possible.

I don't think he will do it with Penrith personally . Would need to buy some personnel to do the job

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah has warned speculation about Tim Sheens' future could become a distraction if the coach's decision drags on.

Sheens has been offered the job at NRL rivals Penrith to be vacated by Matt Elliott at season's end - reportedly for a deal worth up to $2 million over four years.

The Tigers' offer to retain Sheens is rumoured to be around $400,000 a season, with the final two years of a four-year term in the role of a coaching director.

Advertisement: Story continues below "I don't think it's a distraction as yet but if it does drag on for weeks and months heading into the next few games it probably will become a distraction so hopefully Tim will make his mind up soon," Farah told reporters on Thursday.

"(A quick decision) would help out the players, it would help out Tim and it would help out the club.

"If he does decide to move on we've got to be on the lookout for a replacement.

"For all parties concerned a quick decision would be the best."

Sheens cancelled a scheduled media appearance on Thursday morning, instead sending assistant Peter Gentle out to face a large pack of reporters.

The veteran mentor has previously said he won't discuss his coaching future publicly but chief executive Stephen Humphreys has expressed hope the decision can be made within days.

Super League club Wigan have also been linked to Test coach Sheens, who has a big weekend ahead with the Kangaroos squad for next month's clash with New Zealand to be announced and the his Tigers hoping to stem a two-match losing streak in Canberra.

Former St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown, NSW boss Ricky Stuart and Panthers assistant Steve Georgallis have also been linked to the Penrith job.

from possible favourites at start of the year and good run end of last year this year was looking hopeful but injuries have killed us this year. if sheens moves on expect some tough times ahead, people think it will be greener on the other side, i dont see it for a long while yet with new coach on board.

The few things to think about that will be in our favour…..
-Sheens has re signed alot of key players to long term deals,do you think he would be prepared to walk away after developing the team he wants?
-Why would he leave when he pretty much runs this place? we had a ceo that tried to hold him accountable to kpi's so he got him outed.

Only reason i could see why he would want to go would be $$$$$$. he doesnt strike me as a sentimentalist so "going back to where it started" wont come into it.

Well hes been with us since 03 and our club has improved leaps and bounds on and off the field.

The players love him and so do most of the board members he has the football club side of things heading in a good direction.

If players want to leave they do its simple their contract gets paid out by the club the player is going to.The long term contracts only give the players job security.Players do it all the time its not new

I have never denied that but why would it be tough times ahead if he was to move on?

We have most of our gun players signed up on long term contracts, with a couple of young exceptions.

We have the best and most marketable player in our side, who players enjoy playing with, and players will consider moving here just to play with.

We have a large fan base, we are doing quite well financially.

We have a great backing from sponsors and from one of the richest men in the country.

Sheens is not bigger than the club. He is only one person and is not taking all these things away.

Well he is the one leaving, not the other way around.

If you think our side is just going to pack their bags and leave just because our coach moves on then I think you might be deluded. And quite frankly, if any of them want to move on then they are free to go. No player or coach will ever be bigger than the club.

I can't see how we will automatically be thrown into "tough times ahead" just because Sheens decides to move on. How?

This coach thing has been going on way to long, before the Penrith job came up he was using Souths and Newcastle to up his market price and now he is playing us against Penrith. From my point of view our club made him a fair offer now he owes it to us to make a call before the weekend.

As for a new coach if he departs, my choice would be a coach from outside the joint, Brown would be first choice but call me mad I would even consider Ricky Stuart. Gentles and Folkes may be good but we need a complete new direction with no ties to the past
