Papenhuyzen to Melbourne

I don't support poor decisions and this is a very poor decision. Tedesco is one knee injury away from being finished and we should have a succession plan in place. Apparently management do not agree.

Maybe we should punted Tedesco and put our faith in this kid.

You have absolutely no idea how much money was involved in the deal and yet you're prepared to label this a "very poor decision" by management. You're just a management hating muppet.

Bellamy is a highly successful coach with an eye for talent. If a large offer has been made he has a good reason for making it. Apparently our mob have difficulty understanding this, but when the club is overflowing with quality outside backs such as Rankin, Hunt and Kev N some may be more forgiving,

Nofoaluma wouldn't be a good fit at fullback if Tedesco went down with a career ending injury ??

Papenhuyzen has had injury issues as well , did you notice that ??

I suspect Ryan based his decision on not wanting to be a back up as well.

I can just imagine the sales job. "You really should stay Ryan. You never know, in the next 10 years James may break down."

I always wondered where we could fit Ryan in the backline. As others have said, on the small side to be on the flanks or in the centres. It seems to me that when Teddy is fit he would never get a look in.

The club clearly rated Ryan. They promoted him heavily last year with Liddle as two young guns coming through. However, at the same time, they can neither promise something they can't deliver (a first grade spot when the best fullback in the comp is here) nor pay big money for a backup, not matter how good he is.

Bellamy never gets it wrong does he

They moved heaven and earth to get Ben Hampton ,everyone thought he was going to be the next big thing

Just remember ,Melbourne have an unbelievable base to work with Smith ,Cronk , Slater the Bromwiches ,etc

Like TMM ,Fifita , Austin you have to make choices with talent and occasionally clubs get it wrong

I see everyone shooting down the WT's over JAC but no one having pot shots at Cronulla

We let Jonathan Thurston get away from us for Christ sake :bawling

Thurston? What are you talking about Happy? When was he connected with us?

He's in his land of lollipops and fairies..It was Todd Carney..

Tommy Raudonikis was sent to a carnival to look at him well before any NRL club showed an interest and he told the WT's he was too small

This coming from the same bloke who shoved it down all and sundry throats that Alf wasn't too small for SOO or the NSWRL :brick:

No it was Thurston Geo , ask anyone at the club

Carney's Mum really wanted him to join the WT's after his stint at the Atherton Roosters

I don't know how much more game time he will get with Cameron Munster down there. Can't see him being a long term 5/8 so there could be more time in reserves for him.

This is very disappointing to lose such a promising junior. You hit the nail on the head as we are very light on outside backs. We have so much money wasted in rankin, kev, hunt and these guys are just not first grade material. Being a youngster he doesnt have to play fullback, he can be started on the wing and transitioned into fullback in fhe future. We really need another centre and a speedy winger. We had one but the storm took him aswell.

None of those players are signed for next year or beyond so they had nothing to do with this decision. We are not "wasting" any money on them next year. Melbourne offered him an opportunity and a clear path to a first grade spot in his preferred position. We were not in a position to do that because we are clearly looking to invest heavily in Tedesco. Not everything is a bloody failure on the part of the club…

Good player but at 76kg would want to have hodgo's heart. Some players don't handle the additional weight well.

I agree that it does point to a Teddy deal. If teddy is staying you are no chance unless injury. If teddy was going the club would have made a reasonable offer for him to stay.

The guy is 76 kgs , and you want him to be a metre eating winger

Good luck with that one

Spot on. No kid with huge potential is going to sign behind Tedesco Melbourne are a shrewd well run organisation and don't develop kids. They target other clubs and QLD players which, used to be solely the Broncos.
