So that narrows down the contenders….

We can rule out current Sea Eagles assistant coach Matt Parish from the race to become the next Wests Tigers coach because he's accepted a position at the Parramatta Eels.

But MG, who played with Matt during their time together at the Tigers, says the coach comes with a fierce reputation.

"What I'm hearing about Matt Parish from some of the players that have played under him isn't that kind. Apparently he's very intense for a bloke who's an assistant coach," said Mark Geyer.

Matt Parish is obviously very excited to be joining Ricky Stuart at the Eels.

"It was a very tough decision because I really admire Tooves and the staff and the players," Parish said.

"I can tell you I had many sleepless nights about it.

"Manly have been really good to me and I appreciate everything they have done."

Before his time at the Sea Eagles, Parish served as assistant coach of the North Queensland Cowboys and the NSW State of Origin team. As a player, he played 55 first-grade games for the Balmain Tigers between 1988 and 1993.

Also noticed Gentle is considered out of the running even though he was a long shot at best.

Hull FC coach Peter Gentle will not be returning to Australian side Wests Tigers, according to director of rugby Shaun McRae.
Gentle has been linked with a return to the NRL side, where he was formerly assistant, after they parted company with Tim Sheen.
"I can say with 100% certainty that Peter is not going anywhere," McRae told BBC Radio Humberside.
"He is committed to the club and he has no desire to go back at the moment."
McRae added: "He's an extremely loyal person and he thoroughly enjoyed his first year with the club.
"I think it's flattering that he's been associated with the position but he's very happy here."
Gentle joined the Black & Whites last September after six years on the staff at the Tigers.
The 47-year-old led the KC Stadium outfit to sixth position in Super League before their play-off campaign was ended by Warrington on Saturday.
He has already started recruiting heavily for next season, with eight new signings already confirmed for the 2013 campaign.

I dont see how that rules him out

Interesting to know what makes you believe that. I think its quite feasible that the Tigers have informed him that he will not be our head coach next yr, therefore confirming his move to Parra. The only question now is have they narrowed it down or have they actually found somebody

Parish has already been interviewed for the head coach role. He was unsuccessful. Walters will be interviewed next wednesday
