Parra - Alice Springs trial footage

I really like the way our defence stayed strong even late in the game when certain players were playing out of position. Shows that the boys are really focusing on keeping a defensive structure no matter where they're defending on the park. Also makes our depth more effective.

Moving forward is sat nights trial v the Sharks being broadcast anywhere?

By the looks of it the entire days football will be broadcast on xcast

As a matter of interest does anyone know how we went with the penalty count the other night? I'd be interested to see if our discipline has improved any. Lopsided penalty counts against us was one of the most irritating features of our game last season.

It was a penalty-a-thon Flip….don't know the count but both sides gave away a heap

new interpretations in the tackle/ruck will see a bucketload of penaltys early in the season….hard to gauge anything from penalty counts

Thanks for the feedback guys. Guess we'll have to wait for the season to start properly to get a better idea. Along with our defence, I sure hope we improve in this area as well. I'm really over us being the refs whipping boys.

I don't like your chances of a reduced penalty count for this year. JT was a member of the coaching staff at the Roosters when they were the most penalised team and won the comp/ A few of his comments convinced me he follows a similar philosophy. I would expect us to push the boundaries this year and be heavily penalised.

Interesting that we have moved to a sliding defence, as opposed to the up and in.

A very clear change in defensive structure.

Hope it works for us.

According to JT we have actually moved to a combination of both. It's about using the correct structure at the appropriate time and having the players make good decisions.

Interesting, did he elaborate on when each structure would be used, and what determined it, (position on the field, whether they are on the front foot defensively etc)

whether it would be on a set by set or play by play call….

Just interested in how he plans to implement the dual systems.... guess we will all know sooner rather than later.
