Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

I find it hard to believe that Farah is undecided on taking up this role. $150k a year to get on the drink for 10 games with sponsors. Lots of money for little work.
There's a reason why it isn't been signed…...yet.

CK,I was quoting the definition of a contract through Business Law of Australia, although it is quite sometime since I studied it,the basic contractual law still stands…however in the NRLs eyes they may want to use their own law of the land, they seem to do what and when they like while we have to follow the real law of the land to get out of trouble if need be infront of a Magistrate or Judge...Greenburg seems to be judge and jury....

## The NRL has given no time frame on a final verdict after the Wests Tigers and club CEO Justin Pascoe submitted their respective responses to breach notices.

The Tigers were given until the end of January to respond after they were hit with a $750,000 fine and had $639,000 deducted from their 2019 salary cap for not declaring a post-career ambassadorial agreement with Robbie Farah when he left the club in 2016.

Pascoe was also deregistered.

The Tigers and Pascoe moved to fast track the process by submitting their respective responses a week early, both providing it on January 22.

It is believed the Tigers had accepted responsibility for mismanagement but are looking to downgrade the penalty.

The club had stressed after receiving the punishment before Christmas that they did not gain any competitive advantage from Farah’s deal.

Farah did not officially accept the post-career contract which the NRL club claimed was offered as a gesture of goodwill by Pascoe a year before the hooker left the joint venture in 2015.

“We reject that the club has breached the NRL rules or that our conduct warrants the sanctions proposed,” Wests chair Marina Go said in December.

Pascoe has hired Tigers sponsor Brydens Lawyers’ principal Lee Hagipantelis to represent him according to NRL.com.

How does this almost laughable infraction warrant such a penalty yet Melbourne, Parra and Canterbury remain in the comp.

It fails the pub test massively.

So the NRL give everybody 30 days to lodge an appeal but have no time frame on the appeal…this needs to be dragged into the court system IMO,a side note maybe the NRL are seeking there own legal council after possible making a hugely wrong call here !

The NRL are showing no accountability for their actions by leaving no time frame on a decision. The season is about to start and we need a functioning CEO at the club. The decision is the actions of a body that believes they are above the law and act accordingly

NRL taking their time will penalise WT massively if it’s reduced or overturned. If we can’t sign players until the season they miss the offseason impacting their impact. It’s nit good enough not to have this sorted within 2 weeks.

I can't believe the arrogance. Don't put a time frame on it. let Pascoe sweat it out - so what if he might be completely innocent? For those that follow horse racing, just today the police raided Darren Weir's stables and found enough tangible evidence to lock him up. Hang on - he's still allowed to train. Why is that? You got it - he hasn't yet been PROVEN guilty!!

This is terrible news. If their case with us is as solid as they've stated and the preliminary investigations have concluded, why not just get on with it.

No timetable.. NRL is a joke of an organisation. Probably too busy on a junket to watch the super bowl.

Still waiting on a reply from the NRL …....did it the night the story broke

Great PR Toddy ....definitely trying to win the population over with his tact and wit

I think it’s time to take the NRL to court and seek an injunction against the ruling so JP can return to work and that WT are not unduly punished for something that has yet to be proven.

Happy, I sent them one ages ago. Got a long winded reply how the NRL is hell bent on fixing the salary cap rorts and spends hours auditing all clubs and any club to be found in breach of the cap will get massive punishments. It was a total load of garbage, but we are talking NRL

You might remember I posted a copy of an email I sent to NRL a few weeks ago. It was to the point but was not rude in any way. Still waiting for a reply.
I can’t express strongly enough how angry it makes me that the game I love with a passion is in the hands of these absolute self-serving morons

It's an unusual situation as the club has already been found guilty of the breach by the governing body and they have said that they will address the appeal when they are ready. I would assume that the right to a speedy appeal process is not assumed by the NRL as it is in a court of law, so I would pursue it in a law court in order to try and at least force the NRL's hand in duly processing the appeal in so we know where we stand as it could possibly mean the difference between being under cap pressure or having the cap space to make a significant signing. And that doesn't even consider having our CEO on hand.
