Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

Lee H from Brydens might make a good Chair person to replace Marina.
Anyway as a long time member I would like to thank Marina for her efforts, she has made a massive difference to the way our club is now going.

You were the one who posted the evidence. Farah and many on here said he no involvement. What you posted suggested otherwise and showed that this " club legend " held the club he so dearly loves to ransom.
Your point about the word cancer is fair but is commonly used in those terms. I myself have had family members taken by this insidious disease. I loathe the disease and have sympathy for anyone affected in any way by it however I'm not offended by the word. I will from now on refer to Farah as toxic instead.

That punishes their fans. Pascoe deseves his deregistration. That is my last input on thread.

You cherry picked the quote from an NRL article, that I linked, in order to support your Farah theory. Thats the only *real* evidence we have haha. I enjoy reading your posts for the record, DP. No love lost.

I'm not bothered by the word either myself @diedpretty my dad has it. I'm just trying to be mindful of some of the older folks on here that may be discouraged to participate, and share their stories/grief with us. And to those who are going through it right now, or those who know someone going through it right now - stay strong, keep your head up.

**Wests Tigers have today advised that following a meeting of the Wests Tigers Board, there will be a number of new changes occurring at the club.**

Following the NRL’s sanctions against the club, Wests Tigers have announced that Wests Ashfield Leagues Club CEO Simon Cook will lead the club as caretaker CEO until the return of Justin Pascoe as Wests Tigers CEO on June 19, 2019.

As a result, Cook has resigned from the Wests Tigers board, having been a director since September 2014.

The Wests Tigers Board would like to publicly thank Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary Mark Sawicki for leading the club as acting-CEO throughout the recent period of preliminary NRL sanctions. Sawicki, along with the club’s senior management team including Chief Operating Officer Ryan Webb and General Manager – Football Kelly Egan, forged ahead with several strategic plans in Justin’s absence, and maintained stability at Wests Tigers throughout this time.

Caretaker Wests Tigers CEO Simon Cook said he was looking forward to his new interim role at Wests Tigers to help with the club’s stability over the coming months.

“I have really enjoyed my time as part of the Board of Wests Tigers,” said Cook.

“I now look forward to working with our partners over this interim period to further assist with the stability of the club until Justin’s return.”

Wests Tigers have also confirmed that Marina Go will be departing from her role as club Chair in the near future.

Go had previously informed the Wests Tigers Board of her intention to step down following the end of maximum four-year tenure on the board. Go’s tenure was extended in order to assist in leading the club and Wests Tigers Board through the recent salary cap process with the NRL, which was resolved late last week.

In her time as Chair of the Board, Go has led the club through a period of substantial economic improvement and led major governance improvements that have provided Wests Tigers with a period of extremely strong off-field stability.

“I look forward to the start of the 2019 NRL season and will have the opportunity to speak with our sponsors and Members before my formal departure from the club,” said Go.

“I have no doubt that with a passionate board, a talented and dedicated executive team, a Premiership-winning coach and excellent staff as well as a quality playing roster, Wests Tigers remain in good hands who will ensure the success of this club in to the future.”

Caretaker Wests Tigers CEO Simon Cook thanked Go for her tireless efforts as part of the Wests Tigers Board, and for her leadership as Chair during her tenure.

“Marina has done a tremendous job over the past four-and-a-half years and she will be greatly missed by everyone within the Wests Tigers organisation,” said Cook.

The Wests Tigers Board will now begin the search for a replacement independent director from Monday.

Marina Go will remain as Chair of the Board until a new independent director is found, following which the board will then determine a new Chair for the next cycle.

No I read the article, your quotes still do not detail the parameters of the NRL's seizure claims.

Nowhere does it say that players must surrender personal devices or communications. That was the original point, a suggestion that the NRL could seize Robbie Farah's phone.

It says clubs must provide physical access to NRL and must provide relevant communications. Clubs are also supposed to make electronic data storage available. NRL will also monitor, from a public perspective, social media.

As a personal note - my employer may be, at any time, subject to no-notification regulatory audits. Usually we are notified, but not always and we operate in many countries globally, so there are many agencies that have legal jurisdiction over our activities

These audits may or may not be for-cause, meaning there does not have to be a specific reason for an audit. The regulatory authorities may request access to our physical and electronic files and ultimately, though rarely asked for, may actually seize such data resources.

But the regulatory authorities have no right to my personal belongings, nor do they have any jurisdiction over my behaviour within the law. And to state the obvious, they are also at the mercy of the items we willingly release to them, meaning if there was some reason to be up late shredding papers and magnetising hard drives (which is never going to happen, we aren't clandestine) there's nothing they could really do to stop us without forced police raid and seizure.

Now whether or not the NRL can apply a fine - that's something else; I am guessing they probably can fine clubs or players at will or face deregistration. Guessing however you could still keep your phone if it was that important.

Just read the last 10 pages to catch up.

Im just going to say this, i really dont care if people agree with me or want to take me task for it. Ive been saying the league is corrupt for a long time now.

Who has Justin Pascoe upset lately?

Imo Ivan Cleary and or Phil Gould are up to their necks in this.

This is what you get when you take on the inner circle of the game. We admired Pascoe for showing some ticker and being the strong leader we have wanted but this over the top punishment is their way of putting him in his place. He would have been better off letting Cleary walk.

I need to add a disclaimer because some on here just look for angles to have a go at people about, never mind this being one of the most serious moments in our history. The disclaimer is that i do not in any way think that Justin Pascoe is completely innocent here. Simply that the punishment and the over the top nature of it is pay back for him taking on Gould.

Gould has called in a favour.

Did you say you had spare foil..?

I remember what i said, thats what i was suggesting in the other thread.

Its a bit weird to pull up this quote rather than just continue the light hearted comments on the other thread.

Weird!

When Brydens sat down with Pascoe and Greenberg to resolve this mess we gained nothing. Although the NRL never actually said so, Pascoe was no longer a salary cap cheat, he was guilty of mismanagement, or as Brydens put it "an aberration arising from ignorance and neglect". For this insult we were able to have half of a fine that was over the top to begin with suspended, and the salary cap penalty for which we gained no playing advantage was spread over two years. No CEO gets suspended for mismanagement that should have been resolved by a slap on the wrist, yet we don't get Pascoe back until June. We also lost self respect by Pascoe having to publicly thank Greenberg for being so understanding, and as if that wasn't bad enough we have since lost Marino Go who wanted to take these swines to court. Through all of this the NRL came out smelling of roses and the threat of litigation went away. When you put it all together the very lopsided outcome reads as if the NRL had more on us than what was then obvious, and in light of recent events I am thinking that Wests Tigers were threatened with relocation. It seems strange to me that Wests Ashfield have since accepted responsibility for Balmain's loan, and Barry O'Farrell has said we aren't going anywhere on his watch. It looks to me that we have cleaned up a few loose ends so the NRL can never play that card again, and Justin Pascoe might have taken one for the team. Just an opinion, but I don't believe we were told the whole truth.

Seeing that it is mentioned above, you could use a mega roll of foil to wrap that theory up, but little surprises me nowadays.

Seriously. He screwed up, plain and simple. Was the penalty over the top ? Yes. Was he tied up with the disapperance of Harold Holt ? No, but some on this forum will somehow tie them both together.
